Err... I thot it's calcium that is needed for molting not iodine?

Common sense what... shells are calcium based???

Erm ..

Calcium is use for it shell building but it would require only small amount of iodine to aid in molting . But only in very small amout .. :D

No iodine in my tank, but my skumk shrimp has molted 3 times in 3 weeks. and my fire shrimp has molted once in 2 weeks. WHat gives?

How did you know there are trace of iodine in your tank?you tested with a kit?Shrimps need minute amount of iodine to promote molting, the iodine needed can be found inside the sea salt that you use.
