must be when i setup the de-nitrator... the water must have follow back out causing a sudden drop in the ph...

My sulphur filter is now dripping at about 4-5 drops per sec and i took a measurement about last week and it measures 5ppm of nitrate. It is working hard to remove the nitrates produced by my big angels and fishes.

I have a big colony od sps (acropora) procured about 1 month ago (brown with slight green tint) to date it has the green tint almost throughout the branches. The dead exposed skeleton area are all almost rejuvenated by the living tissues. So although not conclusive, but indicative that the sulphur filter is doing its good work and seems beneficial to the coral.

Some updates, tank nitrate is reduced to 2.5ppm, measurement taken a few days back.

The sulphur will be consummed in the process of denitrification, so periodically will mean 1 year or more. So far have been several months and the media is almost as it is, roughly maybe about 5% used?

i have used a sulphur reactor for over 6 years and found them to work very well, very under rated as they are excellent.

have your tested your po4 coming out of the reactor?? i found that it removes po4 also.

Wah !!! i did no such measurement but was told that it does that function as well - not sure of the theory behind the removal though...
