Hi Guys & Gals;

Some of you know I'm in Indonesia, I have this to share. I search the web for LFS/farm and found Surabaya is one major export of LS/coral to everywhere. Coral/LS come from everywhere and shipped here.

So I try to locate the LFS/farm. Wah difficult to find man.

1st weekend found a night aquarium market (I meant street market) that sell majority Fresh water fishes but with two lousy marine store. Did not find anything that is worth buying and corals are displayed under poor lights. Ask the price, it is at least 1/2 as cheap here. Saw one 4-5" powder blue tang ~28SGD. I think still can bargain.

2rd weekend, call a reef tank setup guy for direction, but did not want to tell me where to get coral/LS, think he wants to get me to buy his setup, said want to come down to show photo of his setup, got his contact from advert in reef tank in few major shopping center.

Carry on search, found another street aquarium market, this time better, 3 marine store, again poor lights. But better than the 1st. Quite happy, more stuff on display. Check the price, cheap again.

Fist size Clam ~ 5SGD (not fully open as poor lights)

Super big 3-4" Sabae clown ~ 3.5SGD

Metalic Open Brain Coral ~ 8SGD

Super big black 10" Frog fish ~ 28SGD

Super nice Orange Carnation Tree ~ 7SGD

One kind of very nice fan-like with small blue/purple bulks (dun know what is it) ~ 3SGD.

8" Volitan Lion (They tell me scopion but I sure is lion) ~ 6-7SGD

Lots of bubble, frogspan, torch, gonio, blue sponge, suncoral, red Cauliflower, tongue, shrooms, dull zoo, coco worms, no SPS.

Fishes - so many that I see in Singapore, except the frog fish so big.

Dun know if I buy too much, difficult to clear custom or not... Also dun know what to buy. So tempted with Orange Carnation Tree, but difficult to keep... Sianz. Too bad no ric... Sianz. I think good stuff exported liao.

Any suggestion on expensive coral in Singapore that I should buy here in Surabaya??? Value for the effort to carry...

won't you have problem 'importing' corals into SG?

Small quantity I heard is okay. Never try before but will not buy to expensive ones. Anyway I will come back for Christmas and go back after New year. :lol:

Yuma... Yuma... Yuma.... (Chants...) :lol:

:erm: Didn't I say I did not see any yuma???

I even ask the keeper "YUMa" ?? He dun have a clue... I guess all exported.

Seemingly, I stay there for 2-3 hrs, the people there are not really well informed abt reef keeping. So expensive stuff normally exported.

Saw a Chinese lady bought her 3 children, bought a 2 feet tank, LR, sand, NSW, together with some coral and LS. Then go home liao. Pianz this is nonsense. I bet all die in 1 week. By the way, never buy lights.

I guess good/ex stuff are exported, better money. Cheap ones for locals to kill.

I guess I buy below:

Cheapo $5 clam to try in my 4x 2ft T5, if cannot make it, donate to bro in SRC.

coco worms, unknown bulk fan.

Orange Carnation Tree - dun know should I buy or not. Since locals are killing, maybe it stand a better chance wif me.

Anybody want Sun-coral very small, easy to carry.

Okay guys;

Update of my test with the customs at surabaya to Singapore.

I bought the following:

5 clams - 2 fist size and 3 half fist size

2 sun corals

1 mushie, which I tot is yuma but now I think otherwise

1 dunno is octo or frogspan or torch

1 Brain Coral, Trachyphyllia

Total damage: approx 270000 rp abt 50SGD, excluding transport.

Arrive at surabaya airport, and my driver go check with custom if it is okay to clear custom with coral, the custom lady claims that I needs govt papers to clear custom for those stuff I buy. My driver say 20,000 rp will do the job. But when I clear the scan, they miss me totally, hahahaha. Pay notting as bribe.

Arrive a Changi Airport, questioned by the custom officer what is in the box. I told him live clams. Then he ask me to hold. Luckily from behind came a bunch of Indon chinese that have more boxes than me, custom caught up with them and demand them to go for scan. I stood there for a while and decided to proceed as the officer went to the scanner with those indon Chinese.

So I still do not know if I can bring them in or not.

I will be selling or most probably trading some of the stuff, go to the trade post for update.....

One clam is reserved by Bro Maxstar81....

If you are reading, santa's here.

Ha ha;

Going to Indonesia next week again.

But this time I call up AVA and confirmed these:

1. Giant Clam needs CITES permit from both countries, so I were in fact violating the laws the last time. So even if it is a 2" clam, it is also considered a GIANT clam.

2. Soft Coral is okay but only 5 pieces.

To bros that I promise that if I go, I'll will buy a clam for you since I run out the last time. Sorry no clam, illegal w/o papers.
