How to get rid of crabs!

I suspect that there may be crab in my tank as I hv 2 missing goby and damsel. :( Is there any effective ways of catching/ killing the crab without the need to take out the LR?

Yes it may eat small fish or inverts so introducing one fish may solve one problem but cause another. This fish can also be quite aggressive.

Also it may have reef compatibility issues.

Why dont you try out the crab trap?

At least you wont fight one problem and introduce another problem that you may have to face later.

The problem is I can't even locate the crab, so pretty difficult to know where to put the trap! :(

try to catch the crab. Put a piece of prawn meat inside a glass bottle and let the bottle stand laying beside the LR.

Caught some crab with that method ....

Will the prawn cause the nitrate level to raise?

Juz caught one this morning!!! :lol:

Btw, can anyone cfm whether is it safe to put the mkt prawn in order to lure the crab? Won't it spike the increase in NO4?

it will, similar if you have uneaten food etc in tank.

.. just make sure you remove the prawn after you catch the crab.
