mansiz
Hi bros, my clams have been extending its mantle and closing it whenever a fish swims pass, I already place it in a place with little fish activity. Is is because it is still not use to the environment?
SRC Member Qxnviolet Posted May 4, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 4, 2006 Yes....once the clams get used to it, they won't close even if fishes brushes against them. How long have the clams been in there? Don't shift them too much, let them settle down and they'll get used to all the activity around them. mansiz
Now the clam is opening up very big, mantles extending well, and colour looks bright too. But the Oval hole is very big, is it a bad sign?

M4rk4nth
Some particles may have gotten into it from the fall. sand or a small snail/crustacean may have gotten into the hole. Hence its trying to expel it by opening and closing forcefully.
SRC Member searching4dan Posted August 15, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted August 15, 2006 umm.. i observe it for 3hrs yesterdae.. its like jerking itself off the LRs by jetting small powerful stream of water out.. causing itself to move left right and forward, each time, depending on how it jerks.. so once it lose its balance, it will fall off the edge of that LRs and eat sand.. its like telling me " i prefer the sand damn it".. my is a concrea btw.. so any others idea wat this clam wants?? lol.. SRC Member Dazza Posted August 15, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted August 15, 2006 it is still trying to find a comfy object to attach itself to... put it onto a small piece of rock on the sand ... gv it a couple of days to attach its "strings" .. then u can just move it higher up attached to the small piece of rock...
