SRC Member rhinomax Posted July 3, 2006 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 3, 2006 What is the cost of the big pail that you bought? DO i really need that much salt the very first time?
SRC Member jc85 Posted July 6, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted July 6, 2006 Use a hydrometer to measure. Cheers JC Quote Earth Conservation Blog My Marine Blog For All Sengkang Residents
SRC Member kelstorm Posted July 6, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted July 6, 2006 on average, it should be ard 1/2 to 2/3 of a pail for a rough estimate.. but it is good to get a hydrometer to measure it Quote Let us work together to preserve the world for our children to inherit by being responsible to our surroundings. SRC Member Tanzy Posted July 9, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted July 9, 2006 As an estimate, it takes about 25g of salt mix with 1L of fresh water to make 1L of saltwater. A hydrometer or refractometer is a MUST for reefing! Quote Warning: Heavy handed moderator in operation. Threads and post are liable to be deleted or moved without prior notification. SRC Member Altantis Posted July 9, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted July 9, 2006 If you getting a swing arm type of hydrometer, your reading should be 1.022... or a good refractometer (with alter with a change in temp) and your reading should be 1.025. But 1.024 is still already enough cos your will realise marine salt is very expensive in a long run (weekly change of water - around 10%) Actually Marine Environment is also a good salt
