Hi guys, I am a newbie of 3 weeks, so hope u can advise me.

I have got the following accessories:

1) Fish food powder

2) Coral bloomer

3) Reefmax 3 bottles (to increase alkalinity when pH falls below 8.3, so far no chance to use it yet)

4) pH pen

5) Salinity reader

My tank includes 2 fish, 1 prawn, 3 soft corals and the rest are live rocks. No anaemone. Simple setup for now.

I uses NSW as I find it convenient, and change 10-20% water every 2 weeks. What other accessories do I need to get?

Thanks!

eh eh, a tank from Jireh I see? Regular water changes is very impt because you realise there is no mechanism that removes waste from the tank. It aso operates on a under substrate filtration which might lead to waste being trapped inside the sand.

Get a protein skimmer! I totally agree

Get a protein skimmer...definitely. Air driven is ok only if you're using a good air-driven skimmer...e.g. Red Sea Berlin Airlift (very ex for an air driven skimmer, but definitely very good...I've refused to get rid of mine even though I've upgraded to a Remora)

Under gravel filtration not good...my tank was setup similar to yours...nasty diatom and green algae problems. If you want a low cost setup, suggest you read up on setting up a plenum/dsb. Many use such a setup for their sump...so that means that my 3ft tank is really a sump! Your tank must be a minimum of 18inches high, otherwise you won't be able to get the right depth for the plenum/dsb. Good luck.
