yo ACJ

FYI the deltec uses ball valves not gate valves.

if u really want to skim dry for the ATI's u can pinch the air intakes. u would most likely get even finer bubbles by reducing the air.

i think most ppl think that for the bubbles of all skimmer means the more the merry, but thats not always the case.

cheers

i don't think it's that impressive, it's alright for a DIY skimmer. it's now sitting in the store room collecting dust.

if i could do it again, i'll do some changes to it, didn't like the set up.

it's not becuz it's recirculation and some ppl think it's no good due to turbulance form the supply pumps, that can be fixed quite easily, it's more of the riser height and diameter i'm not too please with.

well, it's back to drawing board. but no more $$ to go do test for now. trying to buy more 4D & toto to see if can get some$$. LOL

all the best with your test.

i think you need to try it on different pump not on the eheim.

i test the mesh material on my ERCS250 skimmer with the GEN X6000 pump

you can see the result in 20 hour of skimming i try to the eheim pump and the old sedra pump the sedra work better then the eheim if you have different pump then try it with 3 layer of the mesh and then you will see better result

here it's 20 hour skim result

here it's the flow metter 22 l/min

here is the foam very dry

tomorrow i am getting the new ATI250 with the 2 pumps i don't believe till now that i will get the same result on the ATI i think i will modify the pump to an the ati .

acidjazz

Oliver P. from ati mod the skimmer to get more dry skim he put inside the outlet smaller pipe you can see it in the picture and give it a try maybe it will work for you

I think your review will be more interesting than mine. i mean you are testing with different pumps and diffferent types of fleecewheels or needlewheels to see which one works best. For me, i just buy two commercial skimmers and try to see which one works better.

Anyway u are not hijacking the thread. i think its productive. . do keep it coming. :)

p.s. i am always interested to know if the reef octopus skimmer can be modify since its very similar to Deltec and Hns design. perhaps changing the pump slightly will dramatically improve the performance.

that's very impressive!!! Looking at the skimmate, it has got to be better than most skimmers i tried. its good to have reefers testing out the skimmer. . perhaps can feedback to ATI or other brands on how to improve the performance with just a minor change.

tomorrow i will start to test the ATI BM250 with the sicce pumps from what i saw till now i didn't like the skime result on the ati i hope i will make it better .

the mesh material was test on some type of pump even on small power head and it's very cheap modify and the result amazed .

it's take more time to break in (when you clean the collection cup) but when it's start to skim it's never stop.

they give the name to the ATI bubble master after the test i realise why.

Hi AJ,

This not a bad idea that you are offering to the reefers.

Think it will not as perfect as what it is , but can meets more than 80 percent is consider worth while.

I would says is really value for money.

If you encountered any parts , pls do not hesitate to PM or EMAIL me cos me got to leave to HK & BK with my family members of 8 this morning to parallel things & will only be back next week.My overall total gross baggage weight are entitles more than 200kg so it should not be a problem maybe only $$$$$ lah.

You want to sent or fetch me back from the airport? Just joking with you small boy.

So will keep in touch & all the best with your strategies coming up with my fullest support.

As I told you before ONLY F..K UP PEOPLE CAN BE MY FRIENDS. :)
