hi guys

an idea just struck my mind is it possible for us to use flood light as light for reef tank ?? tank size bit 2 to 4ft in length.. flood light using halogen bulb about 150w is it enough or maybe need more walts ??? is it better den MH or pl light ??

Hi hi, halogen is not a very good choice for marine tank... you can run a search about lighting in SRC. Cheers

guys what if i change the bulb to Metal Halide is it possible ??

if u change the bulb into mh, then its better off u buy a set of mh...

i think that the fixture for halogen bulbs cannot be used to fire metal halide bulbs.

actually my colleague tried using halogen fixtures before..... aside from giving out a very yellow spectrum, its very warm and the bulb gets busted easily.. he changed 4 times and in the end he finally gave up... he took it coz its pretty cheap... but if doesnt serve the purpose, its just money down the drain no matter how cheap it is...

tks cos i have a flood light casing so thought of getting the halogen bulb since you guys said it not good i see if i can change the casing or wiring to suit the MH bulb is two MH bulb enough for a normal 4ft tank

im using 2 x 150w mh, quite ok.. but given a chance, id opt to 2x250w

actually there are flood lights using MH leh.... around $200
