Weipro Skimmer skimming??

I have installed my weipro 2013 running with Weipro 3000yesterday. Until today it is still not skimming. The bubbles only have like 1cm then they burst. is it normal?? nothing is flowing into the cup.

I have read through some old thread and put the water level at the 1/3 of the funnel is it correct??

water level up to 1/3 of the funnel in my opinion will flood your collection cup in no time. it will take awhile for the skimmer to kick in. i am using the same model as yours. it will take around 2 days to kick in and before you see any bubbles. i am using a 2000L/hr atman pump btw.

it also depends on the number of LS u have in your tank. hope this helps =)

Big ben102000 thanks for the quick reply. I will tune the water level down. Afraid it will kick in when im at work. Im using it on a 2ft tank with 5 fishes(Chromis, clown and a six line) with a few LPS. Overkill???

wa yea .. kinda .. but its better than underkill lolz.. i using it for my 3 ft with quite alot of fishes and 4 corals

Remember that the foam should be below the cup level (below the cup that can be removed to wash). It will then produce true skim. If not it will just draw pure salt water from your tank.

my water level is juz below the cup, giving me kopi now ... clean the cup every 2 weeks or so

okie . See is this few days the slimmer will break in. BTW you guys on the skimmer whole day or just when the lights are on??

Cos to save electricity, I on it only like 12 hrs each day

i am overfeeding my fishes now so i on mine 24/7. some bros here off their skimmer at night

Hi,

I never turn it off. Afraid that it will disrupt the water surface tension and thus breaking the efficiency of skimming. Maybe your bio load is not too heavy and thus not producing much skimmate.

I used to adjust it to the mark as recommended on the skimmer itself and the skimmate were like mud.

Tip for weipro skimmer users: the air intake can be modified to reduce noise by placing an airstone.
