Hi Earth

Notice that u are keeping many fishes. Even with a powerful skimmer, it is not possible to skim out everything. There will definitely be NO3 present. Are u using any denitrator or anything to remove the NO3. What is your NO3 level ?

i followed some threads in RC and i realise that denitrator aint that popular. In fact some of them used either a super over sized skimmer or used two skimmers i.e. Beckett skimmer and a needle wheel skimmer.

Maybe that's the receipe for a healthy tank.

Hi Acidjazz

What will the NO3 level for those who use a super over-sized skimmer and with heavy livestock ? Will it be still 0 - 5 ppm or higher ? I understand u also keep a lot of fishes in your tank. What is your NO3 ? How do u maintain it ?

I have a refugim full of cheato, which the lights are on for approximately 15 hours a day.

Other than that, i run a Deltec AP851 skimmer, which is not exactly over-sized for my tank.

I try to do water changes once a week, at least 50 litre.

There are many ways to lower No3, i am sure a denitrator does help. If not get a more powerful skimmer or change water more frequently.

Dear All,

Thinking of upgrading from my 2.5ft to 9 footer fish and live rock tank. Can anyone help by suggesting the height and width for the new tank? Is chiller and MH light necessary, since no coral? Should sand be excluded to reduce parasite and white spot? :thanks:

Dun mind a small 1 like yours.

Base on my survey from my visitors, 8 out of 10 rated the blue tang as the most beautiful fish in my tank. Sold my B.T last month as it got too big for my tank and have been looking for a small replacement

Serious, if u happen to catch sell me 1

4x1.5x2.3 home tank
