SRC Member NormanH Posted December 9, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted December 9, 2002 Hi guys, i m really new to this hobby, so pardon me if my questions sound silly. Is it necessary to purify our tap water for our tank? (Being one of the cleanest tap water in the world)
SRC Member Tanzy Posted December 9, 2002 SRC Member Share Posted December 9, 2002 I use tapwater for my tank and have no problems with it. Some are not so lucky and get algae or other problems using tapwater. If I can drink it, the fish had better drink it too, they are not getting RO/DI water while I drink sewage! Ah Teck
Hi Friend, don't waste your money investing in these unit. Tap water in Singapore do not need such gadget. If I were you, rather than spending 500-800 to buy a reasonable RO/DI unit, I would pay 100 bucks to get someone to top up the tank with natural sea water. first of all, it can cycle your tank faster, and they are much cheaper as compare to synthetic salts ! I have been using natural sea water and many tank parameters are stable. nitrate , phosphate are undetectable. PH is good at 8.2-8.
