Snap Shots of My Tank

Dear reefers,

Upon some encouragements from some of the bros & sis here, I decided to start a thread on my present tank.

As I need time to search of the tank pics, I shall start the ball rolling by having some recently taken snap shots.

Please feel free to comments.

TIA ;)

Radiant Wrasse, Halichoeres iridis I have a pair, this is one is morphing into alpha male. The female is camera-shy so unable to get a good pic of it. ;)

Banggai Cardinal, Pterapogon kauderni. This one is not wild caught but captive bred, may try to pair it up so as to lessen our dependance of WB banggai.

Lyretail Anthias, Pseudanthias squamipinnis. This is the male, I have another 2 females to keep him company. They are very well fed by my pair of African Flameback whom spawn in my tank frequently.

tEc,Oct 24 2007, 12:06 PM]

how to diff between the male n female?

Hi bro,

Most wrasse are Protogynous hermaphrodites which means that the more aggressive, stronger and larger ones will gets to morph into males while the rest remains as females.

For radiant wrasse, the alpha male will have a green making of its 'face' and a silver streak on its 'spine'. The difference between the females are juvenile is the black dots of its dorsal fins.

HTH ;)

Hi bro,

Angels are pelagic spawners with long larva stage thus difficult to survive in the typical set-up unlike banggai and clownfish.

Breeders of angels usually have tall tanks and have special larva harvesting and rearing facilities which may be too expensive or tedious for us hobbyist.

HTH ;)

Last shot for the day. Green Star Polyp, Pachyclavularia sp. This colony is very intense green and is growing like no tomorrow. Will be fragging it soon to be shared with some lucky reefers.
