Hi,

Currently have been running a tunze 9005 skimer for the last month....

some how the skimmer hasnt broken in yet, there is foam but the foam doesnt reach the top of the collection cup

my water level is about 15cm, and i am using the the skimmer in sump

I have the attachement which allows the water level to be kept low...

I have washed and cleaned the skimmer but it still doesnt skim...

anyone any ideas??

haha...

thanks for the advice

when i mean attachement to keep the water level low i mean the skimmer extension set 9005.40 which allows the skimmer to be insenstive to water level changes....

my salinity is 1.022-1.023

how high should i keep the salinity level??

any suggestions??

well, i've raised the water level in my sump to 18-20cm now...

but its still aint skimming...

gonna try with high salt level from tomorrow....

Its better to maintain above 1.023 if your water temp is 28C and below. I keep mine at 1.0235 at 26-28C chiller setting.

I think your skimmer water level is too low. If raise more, will the water over flow out of sump if electrical suply tripped? Must be careful or else your floor will flood after supply trips.

Hi all

one thing i did notice was that when my zeovit pump was kicking in every 3 hrs there was hardly any skimming...

so copperband could be right...

but when i was away for abt a week and the timer failed to cause the pump to kick in, the skimmer started skimming a lot out...

bio load is only an abalone and a snail, though quite a sizeable one...

however, even with the zeovit reactor pump kicking in, i still have very high phosphates...

any ideas??
