wilsontantw
Don't mind my curiosity, but why the need to draw water out using dosing pump? It's a little too slow isn't it? You can consider using one spare channel to do fresh water top-up. Nice setup! Very good move to use electronics to help maintain consistent water parameter. you will be rewarded with good SPS growth very soon. Btw that is a radioactive birdnest. Doesn't really require high light. Quote decommissioned 2.5x2x2 Videos: | | Your mind is like a parachute. It only works when it is open.

wilsontantw
I'm using exact same setup as zac. First 3 channels for kh,ca and Mg. After ensuring that the system is stable, I bought a 4 channel extension, but only using 1 channel for fw topup. Which is an excellent choice, as i was battling with ever-rising salinity level. Now it doses almost 1litre per day. It's crazy! 3 other channels remain un-used. Quote decommissioned 2.5x2x2 Videos: | | Your mind is like a parachute. It only works when it is open. SRC Member Zac Posted August 10, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 10, 2011 Dosing Kal using another spare channel from my dosing pump as top up replacing evaporated water. Tested my params today. No3- undetectable Po4- not tested (using rowaphos) KH-7 (abit low right??) No3- undetectable Po4- not tested (using rowaphos) KH-7 (abit low right??) Mg-1350 ca-400 Parameters looking good. Increase kh by 10ml per day? Then measure it after 1 week. If you are worried, measure daily for the first 7 days. After that it's auto pilot. But just to be safe, I measure the 3 key parameters fortnightly. The challenge is not in obtaining the desired levels but keeping them constant, with dosing pump, you are half way there. The final lap is to ensure the right amount goes into your tank to help your corals grow. Good luck bro! Quote decommissioned 2.5x2x2 Videos: | | Your mind is like a parachute. I have been testing it every other day seems to drop pretty fast . Quote Zac's Red Sea Reefer
wilsontantw
Ahhhh... There's a chemistry explanation, which I wouldnt bore you with (partly becos I flunked chemistry). But do you see good coraline algae growth lately? Or the SPS are growing new tips? Try increase the kh dosage to match the intake. Soon you'll find coraline irritating. Yes I do see growth in coraline algae and also growth in sps . So that means that I need to up the dosage to match the intake ? SRC Member Zac Posted December 15, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 15, 2011 some updates on my 28g few months ago while i was stressed up with work i neglect my params and didnt realise that my salinity was way too high due to my Dosing pump wasnt working properly... lost all my SPS overnight and my cheato died and i didnt realise that it was slowly rotting releasing Nutrient big time back to my tank! so my tank kind of crash! now iam having red slime algea attack!!!! therefore i decided after a long consideration to set my my old 24g so that i can transfer all LS to my 24g and take out all rocks to give it a good scrub!
