Hey reefers, has anyone experienced the above with your Rhizo? When it opens the tentacles are short and stumpy very unlike the 1st time it opened. Could it be its over exhausted from eating too large prawn meat?

pls share and advice

U mean when it first eat finish the prawn meat or at night? Normally Rhizos will open their tentacles fully only at night. By the way, if you want to feed your Rhizo large pieces of prawn meat, my suggestion is to feed it only 1-2 times per week. Feed too much and it might die instead.

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

Ok thanks for the tip peter.

At night when it opens the tentacles are short and stumpy unlike the other Rhizo that i have her tentacles are very normal. I think i must stuffed the poor chap when i gave a slightly large prawn and the next morning i saw slime around the mouth area.

Oh dear there hope it will recover!! :paiseh:

Another thing to take note of is the water flow around the Rhizo. If you put it where the current is hitting the Rhizo face on, then the Rhizo will not open fully.

I somehow don't think over feeding once will cause slime to form around the rhizo mouth. Maybe you can check if nearby corals are irritating the rhizo.

Hmmm very unlikely as its isolated from the rest of the coral. Will monitor it and hope all goes well
