New phosphate meter

Has anyone seen or used this first hand? digital phosphate colorimeter. I'm all about digital meters, but curious about real-life accuracy.

I don't think this is available in Singapore as there are no distributors for this here if I'm not mistaken.

But from the specs, it measures phosphates from 0.01ppm to 2.5ppm and accuracy is 0.04ppm. Some reefers on RC have tested it and they claim that it is as accurate as the more expensive phosphate calorimeter that uses a different wavelength.

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

i've used the old model before and the accuracy sucks, spent $100 on 2 new sets of regents still damn lousy reading,

lousy as in same water sample i can get readings in 1 try 0.03 and the next try i get 0.1 , which is damn off

0.04+/- is not a good indicator of good water quality as reefers are striving to achieve lower then 0.03.

so the meter could be showing 0.03 but i actually have 0.07 or vice versa

Mix Reef Tank: 5ft x 2.5ft x 2ft mixed reef

Chiller: daikin 1hp compressor

Concidentally, I was just checking out this gadget.

Since it's <USD40, it's worth considering. Reagent pricing is also quite affordable at big volume of 100 packs.

Maybe can arrange for bulk order.

Bulk order will be a bit tough considering that anything more than SGD 400 including shipping cost, you will end up paying 7% GST.

I'd say wait for user reviews first.. Certain parameters are just not accurately measured the easy way..

Take nitrate for example.. American Pinpoint also have digital meter.. its never accurate..

Salinity digital meter is another.. too many factors can change the readings..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

I believe on RC, Randy Holmes is using the Hach PO-19. So that is using a colour wheel so it could be considered as an alternative to the digital meter.
