How does overflow box works?

i've been trying to figure out how the overflow box work. preventing from the water from the main tank to overflow out of the main tank..

after i did my drawing than i figure it out.. hehe..

so to not waste the drawing i've drawn, i jus post it here, jus in case a noob newbie like me trying to find out about overflow box.

please correct me if i'm wrong...

Interesting, I always thought the middle piece should be filled with water..... lol.... blush.gif

Yup, the middle part should be filled with water. Air is supposed to be sucked out from it for the siphon to work.

oh is it.. so the top part, as in the one in black acrylic piece can be remove?

the black piece is where the siphon is. You have to suck the air out for water to enter the black piece, starting the siphon. Only then will you be able to get the overflow working. Once the siphon is established, it should not be broken even when the water level inside the box decreases when you switch off all pumps.
