Assessors & Orchid Dottyback

I am thinking of getting a Yellow Assessor. The problem is my 3' 8" tank already has an established Orchid Dottyback. Will they get along? Will the Dottyback continually harass it? Would appreciate the comments of reefers with similar experience.

Will be ok if it is the real orchid dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani), this is one of the most peaceful of all dottybacks.

Always something more important than fish.

Hi Brother Fuel

Thanks for your opinion. It is the P. Friedmani. You have both species in your tank co-existing peacefully?

kept both before,

and each of the above are peaceful fellas. chances of not getting along well is rather low in my opinion.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Hi Brother Law

Thanks for sharing your experience. I can now go ahead & buy the Yellow Assessor. While generally peaceful, Orchid Dottybacks are not totally non-aggressive. My Orchid Dottyback had, in the past, chased & harassed two blue neon gobies to death in my tank.

Size do matter, do try to add a relatively larger specimen if possible.
