Flame scallop

Hi Creetin,

I kept them before. They only last in my tank for 8-9mths. When I first got it, i see some blue electric. After sometime, it lost its electric. Apparently, it doesn't have enough food.

I feed instant algae, spirullina powder and vitamin into water but not enough for it. It just slowly starved to death in my tank. :( Unless you are confident that you are able to provide it with enough food & yr filtration can handle, then go for it, if not, better not.

Besides, it doesn't like bright areas, will hide under or behind rocks or places shielded. If you see them they lose their electric & their tentacles getting shorter, then you know it is slowly starving to death.

Wei :)

Sten's right

It is a filter feeder, and requires floating micro-plankton just to keep it alive It also needs proper calcium levels and alkalinity (dunno about that). It does not tolerate nitrates or copper-based medications.

They may also require to be fed individually through a pipette with phytoplankton.
