New here n help help badly

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

me new here n quite new to marine fish keeping too. Did kept them for abt a year n eventually give up. But now I'm back with a 6 X 2 X 2 feet tank ready for action again!!!!

Currently the tank is fill with fresh water, running an eheim2217 n an air pump that's all.

I read thru some postings here n there r lots of things I dun understand. I'm thinking of getting two near 3 ft sump tanks but dun noe where to start from. My wife n I plan to keep fishes like box fish, puffer (a must) n star fish. Must likely will be a fish only tank(Already give up on corals liao)

I need help on the following:

1) For the 6ft tank what much salt must I buy???

2) Need to know where or who can help me build 2 sump tanks??

3) What brand of protein skimmer must I buy n the price???

4) where to source for fishes???

Oke, did I miss out anything???

Friends here, who r free pls pls enlighten me on how to set up the tank..........:blink:

Anyone care to call me at my home at tel: 63630420. Pls call after 9pm.(Sorry no hp liao. Lost my 6510 one month ago n lost the another new 6510 today... hai....):angry:

First thing, 2 sumps is asking for trouble. Assuming the over flow is identical and the amount of water going into the sumps is identical, then you better make sure that the return pumps move water back to the main tank at exactly the same rate. Since that is impossible, one of the sump will slowly empty while the other one will slowly fill up until it overflows. Best stick with one sump.

Your tank should be about 180 gal, a bucket will be good for about 150 gal, so get 2 bucket/boxes or 6 packets of salt and bargain for a bigger discount.
