Quarantine Live rocks?

I was just wondering if there was a need to quarrantine live rocks or sand when u just bought from the LFS? Ick parasites do reside in these things don't they and we don't know for sure if the LFS has taken care in making sure his tank does not have Ick parasites?

well most of the time..

if u just brought the live rocks... u need to cure it from mantis and other harmful stuff...

and there r a few method to do it.. but best to put those LR into plain water and kill them all..

then u will have to cycle your LR before u can use...

as for sand.. sand come in bag and dry.. u think anything will live.

Not advisable to dip LR in fresh water, doing this will kill a lot of bio lives, including the good ones.

Life cycle of ich is 2 weeks and that's is less than the time needed to cycle a tank with LR which incidentally can take upto 3 weks or more.

So, no need to worry.
