  1. hi I believe we are more than willing to feed anything to anthias so long they eat. Mine take Cyclops & golden pearls readily. the trick is to starve them. I know i am threading on ice. its been a year.
  2. hi my guess is a carberryi. look for purple tinted eyes.
  3. hi well. i guess its tiger time at some KPT. but take my word. always keep DT properly chilled.
  4. hi I am really surprised by the risk taken. being kiasu, i will always use packet ice that comes with ta-pau drinks from kopi tiam to chill my dt. or get from edmund as he uses ice packs. nutrition will drop after 30mins thaw. my gut feel. go www.dtplankton.com
  5. hi all i was looking at my DT. the quantitative analysis is moisture(max) is 97%. I believe phytos are so blo*dy light. their weight contribution in bottled is negligible within the limitations of cell separation technology. that is if you are talking about live culture. they need the mositure to survive. you will not lose much of the nutrients though. if you are okay with the deads, those freeze dried phytos are 100% rich with dubious nutrition performance. there are 2 camps amongst the ang mohs. the majority go for DT's. the rest are into culturing. if there is any using MS, he hasn't heard of RC yet. a friend in NUS put DTs under scope. heard the concentration is close as per claimed. the cells even vibrates!
  6. hi the former plus light is the one to go for.
  7. hi all talking about anthias. was serving food for my beloved carberry anthias. one of them got so excited, he jumped out of the tank across my face. ended up beside my dog. threw him back JIT. lesson: try not to stuff your anthias.
  8. hi would say always take mag articles with a pitch of salt. remember marc weiss, eco-equa..etc? reefcentral is a good avenue to size up a product. every product is heavily scrutinised. though there is a chance of propanganda at work. my take is believe in visual result. put dt & MS under scope and you will see why. the meat = zooplankton (maybe MS has. ? not really a MS user) variety is the word in feeding. for clams, its the strains/sizes, not the form that is important. I run my skimmer 12hrs daily(7-7). only dose DT at night when PS is off. but i reckon the difference is marginal. HTH
  9. hi my friend sea fans classification 1) brightly coloreds = non-photosynthetic = requires constant feeding of phytoplanktons. they like to makan at night. 2) dully coloreds = light please. Santa
  10. Morgan is right. I have been using my 'expired' DT for 3 weeks. so far so good. long as you remember to conduct the nose test. Its analogous to eating gardenia bread few days after tagged date. manufacturers have pretty high safety factor. just exercise prudency.
  11. my gang of reefers wanted to order the 8-pack box from argent. you will be amazed by the express freight for frozen products. you will need to order plenty boxes to justify. door to door around SGD 80 per slab for 8-in-box.
  12. from a decent LFS: insider info says ornamental constitutes less than 1% of argent's biz. the rest are aquacultures. the deep frozen is vacuum sealed for immediate applications (farms have alot to feed). there is a question of contamination by moisture(water) upon repackaging. the US users reckon its negligible on the freshness issue as long as it is not over thawed. a good check tip is your repackaged cyclops should come in nice small cubes/blocks, suggestive signs that they were partitioned from the huge slab without much prolonged thaw time. those repacked drieds must be from those 500g milo tins during aquarama. to play wise, the drieds should be refrigerated(chilled) once opened. my frozens looked good at the LFS. but they always suffer from minor thawing effect upon reaching home. if only they could provide some ice (i.e DT aquarama) for that bit of placebo effect.
  13. my family was looking for rear proj till we stumbled on the pana crt. cheap & good. no wow factor though. make sure you get a real BRIGHT rear proj tv. rear proj tv has a sweet spot for optimal viewing. you need to factor the distance (tv to sofa). the more established brands are toshiba, sony & panasonic. read from papers pana was voted no.1* in home AV.
  14. the frozens are binder free. i feed direct. running them under a tap = draining the dollars into the sewage try and you will know it hurts.
  15. A friend just bought a bartlett's anthias from ML today. Been hiding behind the pump till cyclop-eeze was dished on his dining table. the rest, as they often said is history. cliche.
  16. HI all was recommended by a seahorse nut. I am already a user of PE. As my copperband is already feeding well, I cannot see how PE will work for finicky fishes. Anyone tried PE on Mandarin? All comments welcomed.
  17. Hi Try conducting a vineger test on sand from P*tmart & ML. You will notice a huge difference in Calcium contents. not that it will make any difference to your tank performance.
  18. The frozens are supposed to hold their nutrition value better than the drieds. My fishes always go ga-ga over them. A little feeding frenzy. I bought mine from ML.
  19. Hi You can consider PE Mysis shrimp. Seems like everyone in Seahorse.org is using it.
  20. He is already using cyclop-eeze I guess.
  21. Hi all For your info, T-iso needs to be stored in ultra low temp freezer at a temp far below the coldest setting of a household freezer to prevent rapid nutritional loss. Bioplankton is fundamentally sourced from Reed Mariculture aka Instant Algae. Harle was pushing to me days ago. The best is still self-culture/variety feeding.
