These are dying microorganisms, normally occur by stacking the rocks with little rooms for circulation and ventilation. Scrub off the black spot or face of the rock and you good to go.

The common window film are both anti glare (limit light and trap heat in the glass) and anti UV (does nothing to heat and light), you can choose what percent of glare to block. It will be easier to apply the film to the window than the tank itself, this will trap the heat on the window.

You know for beginners in marine, it is not recommended to start a nano as it can be quite difficult to control the various parameters. It can be done, but not with some reading to boost up your knowledge. I would recommend you to read up more before you continue. SRC contains many useful information on starting a tank, a simple search on starting a new marine tank on your friend 'google' would also point you in the right direction.

The water level has to be around the rubber ring to work, not the water level sticker. The pump is fine.

Chalky Calcium. I guess it will be filter out when you add it in your main tank.

Adjust the water level to the black rubber ring. Takes a day or two to kick in.
