  1. I did some DIY .. bought blue LED from siml im tower, soldered it & covered it with silicon sealant! But then cus of salt the led leads do corrode in the long run! Finally just put blue PL lights... easier solution..!
  2. Mixed reactions about keeping 2 mandarins... it hard to know the sex of the mandarins so cant even make a pair! Reg poomoon question! given a choice green mandarins will eat pods, but pod populations are limited in the tank & may not be able enough for the fish! So if u train the mandarin in isolation in a small container u can make them eat frozen food.. But green mandarins are quite fussy, there is always a chance they might starve but still not eat the frozen food...
  3. I intend to buy a green mandarin & train it to eat frozen food in a floating box inside the tank. My question is: I already have a spotted mandarin in the tank, will they fight if i keep them both in the same tank! Anybody has any experience in keeping 2 mandarin in the same tank, do they fight? 2nd question is has anybody successfully trained a mandarin fish to eat frozen food? Thanks in advance for you answers!

  6. True most spotted mandarin would accept frozen food right away, sad that the green mandarin doesn't do the same! I have read that Henry @ hong leong sells green mandarin that accepts his gorment food... Maybe these green mandarins can be trained quickly to accept frozen food!
  7. Not sure if its a good idea to put inside a new tank with no pod population. But as for my experience my spotted mandarin ready accepted frozen food from the 1st day onwards... So its a good bet to buy a spotted mandarin, as compared to the green mandarin which is too fussy!
  8. ADD MAROON CLOWN FOR SALE $6 Refer to video posted earlier

  11. Yeah that fish has kept me worrying.. eats like a pig... But is extreme hyper splashes water around.. Saw it biting my super sun i bough few weeks ago! Don't know what todo!
  12. Hi Fuzzy, You are right, a bit too crowded there, will be careful not to add anything more!! Can't afford the electricity bill for chiller! Once your reefing goes beyond the budget, it starts becoming a very expensive hobby! That's why i try to keep it as simple as possible! Anyway satisfied with cooling fan, just have to keep up with the water topup!
  13. My Tank is slowing turning from a FOLWR to a reef...lol Uploaded a vid hope u guys like it!
  14. I even tried feeding live brine shrimp! but the mandarin wasn't interested in it! I even saw it biting once, & then spitting it out! Marine Lifes Mandrin's do eat, but i don't wanna to feed henry's gourmet! Only success i had is spotted mandrin. They arent so fussy as the green Mandrin & will eat frozen brine & Mysis shrimp! But the aren't as beautiful as the green mandrin!
  15. Hi kikobananas, How did u get ur mandrin to eat frozen food! I bought mandrin fish twice & both times it refused to eat anything except pods... I gave up now i have a spotted mandrin, which eats well!! But i still love the green madrin, its so beautiful!! Any tricks to get it to eat?
  16. My fishes have stomach like bottomless pits.. I tried feeding in the night but the cleaner shrimps & stuff are still awake, & sun coral takes long to eat the food.. Until that the cleaner shrimps.. would just pull out the food from the coral!
  17. Sorry to be going a bit off topic but how do u guys feed your sun!! I had a sun coral (not super sun) Used to feed frozen brine or mysis shrimp..really hard work feeding them... If i just feed, my fishes used to snatch away to food.. had to cut coke bottle & put it over to avoid fishes eating it... Back bending work!! Anybody care to share their experience?
  18. I dont know how u guys calculated...but this is how i calculate If the tarrif is $0.1928 per Kilowatt If a 50 W pump runs for 24 hours =50W X 24Hrs X 30 Days =36000W =36 KW So 36KW X 0.1928 SGD 6.94 would be the amount u will spend on electricity only for the pump. Hope this helps
  19. Good thread, Harlequin Mania! Next time you buy an equipment, should not only check the price but also check how much electricity it consumes. I recently realized that my Reef Octopus skimmer works equally well with a 16 W feeder pump than bigger 38W pump i used earlier. Which means not only was i wasting power but also adding heat to my tank So next time i must do better research before buy equipments
  20. Hi Shanshine, My Filter is just the overflow compartments.... It contains filter wool for pre-filter, 2 kgs of Biohome Plus , some chaetos & Atman 105 to pump water back to the tank. No idea about custom tank makers cause my tank is just a simple fresh water tank, which my friend gave it to me.
  21. My copper band pecked on all my feather duster (fan worms) & they all died... But i doesn't touch my button corals & my mushroom leather coral!
