  1. The ATM downstairs is very important. Sometimes u cannot tahan one, after seeing his collections.
  2. To further improve color, either u can reduce vinegar dosage further or use less biopellets. Feeding more might work but not for my case, which i have tried before when my NO3 is 0. (using D&D NO3 high sensitivity test kit). I have stopped biopellets completely & my SPS color up a lot, after stopping biopellets & my NO3 climb back to 5. Better than feeding more at 0 NO3. They have also stopped RTN & STN, for new frags.
  3. Highly possible that the nutrient in the water is not enough. Maintain NO3 of ~2 to 5. During photosythesis of corals/ plants, apart from lights, CO2, some NO3 is needed to produce food ( we all have learnt that last time during science lesson in school, i believe some of us have forgotten). U can start to feed. Get oyster feast (mainly to feed SPS) & reef roids ( mainly to feed LPS, soft corals & zoas. Helps to feed some SPS and extend most SPS PE). This 2 will be sufficient. Feed them on separate days. Monitor your NO3, dun let it get out of control. And if u are running carbon, dun use too much. 1 full tablespoon for every 30 usgallon is more than enough to remove yellowing color in water.
  4. But since yours is hairless, white, that crab is harmless.
  5. I ever encounter a brown hairy one, with red eyes. That is harmful as i saw it tears off my SPS flesh & the SPS dies after a few weeks. It then shift to another colony. Needless to say, i have got rid of it already.
  6. IME, fish poo is the best natural food which does not contain perservative, artifical colorings. Serious, IME, i personally find reef roids to be very good. My SPS PE extend to feed when they sense this food particles float pass. But i dun know whether the size is small enough to feed acropora & montipora cos their polys are quite small. So, i feed oyster feast from reef nutrition too. Of cos, i separate them on different days. However, i feed coral vitalizer almost every morning, polylab amino acids & their coral food concentrate every night. Sometimes i skip reef roids & oysterfeast as i am worried about my NO3 might 'shoot up'. So far polylab genesis & fuel can keep my NO3 under control. But, fish poos still the best food for them. If u have a significant number of fishes, i believe the whole systrm can substain by itself. Feed, if u feel better & if u want to be on the safe side.
  7. It is a beauty. $128 for this frag with multiple branches, it is a very good price. Too bad i already got 1 super heathly frag from him the previous round for his SSC, if not, i sure get this piece. Upz for him.
  8. The lights given out by the celestial looks purpleish. Could be 20k. Not everyone can stand this color. But then again, i think that the lights can be tune. Any info on this celestial whether could be tune or not?
  9. Amazing. But i still prefer orphek if i were ever to switch over next time.
  10. Bro braincoral, relief to hear that your nightmares are over. But u have to monitor for a few more weeks, jus to be sure.
  11. Bro sunny, sad to hear your side had this pest too. Your SPS are beauties. Hope u will overcome the flatworms & win this battle soon.
  12. Supplement with T5 at the front.
  13. Bro, i understand that. Come back stronger & restart again. Life itself is full of ups & down. Some cases even worse than losing SPS and having 'ugly' stuffs in the tank. This is juz a small upset compared to what we re facing in life. Perverse, turn those ugly 'ducklings' back into beautiful swams by continue taking good care of them & add new ones to replace those u have had lost. Believe in yourself, u can do it. Good luck.
  14. Your blueish tips SPS need to see whether the PE becomes longer at dark times. IMO, it looks fine. The one with no PE, does not looks good. Is it Montipora?
  15. Another possible cause, your SPS 'dying'. PE starts to retract, eventually no PE, then RTN. Be careful when your SPS shows sign of bleaching & PE starts to get lesser.
  16. PE will also be affected if u place your corals too near & in front of wavemakers.
  17. It is normal. They behave like that in the wild too when most fishes are 'sleeping', no fishes bite them & when 'food' in the ocean is at the most. This behaviour pass down from generations to generations. But they can be 'trained' to extend their polyps in our tank too. Can't help u on that but i learn from one brother here that feeding amino acid will help. Have not tried that yet.
  18. Congras bro. My red scooty pair still no result although they did 'it' every night, 1hr before lights out. Maybe the female not adult yet, no eggs.
  19. Maybe SPS gurus here can start a topic on 'Before keeping SPS, what are the things to do 1st'. This would help newbies to SPS be aware of the basic requirements to fulfill before putting that very 1st SPS in.
  20. If u re fine with manual dosing daily, then u can continue. But if one day u starts to get 'turn off' by dosing by hands daily, then u can consider dosing pumps. I believe quite a number of reefers here started off dosing by hands too before they switch to dosing pumps.
