  11. hey all, am looking for an external temp probe for my hailea 500. did some search and found a few ways to mod the chillers for an external temp probe. 1) direct mod on the chiller, to remove its default probe and attached an external probe connected directly to the chiller. works by kicking in and off the chiller directly, setting the temp on the chiller itself. 2) use an external temp controller which the chiller is plugged into. works by cutting the power supply to the chiller with chiller set to its lowest possible temp (as the chiller default probe is still intact). is my understanding of the external temp probe correct? with regards to method 2, I found that quite a few ppl are using this kind of controller. http://www.fish-street.com/temperautre_controller_atc800_and_?category_id=60 however, as I'm not so confident with the cutting and attaching wires, I am looking for something as such, plug and play kind, http://www.fish-street.com/aquarium_atc-300_timer_with_temperature_controllerheat?category_id=60 so does anyone have any LFS in mind that sells this kind of controller? if I were to get from non-LFS (eg. Sim Lim Sq), what are the things that I need to take note of when purchasing for aquarium use? and lastly, what shld the price range be, to prevent myself from getting carrot-chopped? looking at the price on fishstreet, i suppose it shldnt cost more than $50? TIA!

  17. These are the comparision for pumps with output around 5000L/hr...
  18. Hi all, was doing some research and comparision on pumps with output, 2000+ L/hr, and I came out with this table... so i thought might as well share it here... common choices here in Singapore are Eheim, Rio and Aquabee... common reviews are - eheim reliable but high watt... - rio low watt but noisy, some also mentioned that it runs hot... but looking at the price vs watt and output, rio seems to be the better one... headloss shldnt be of much concern if using as a feeder pump cos' all are rather similar, with the exceptions of Aquabee 2000 of 1.6m and Eheim 1260 of 3.7m...
