  1. I think it's the inadequate sponge filter too. Will heed your valuable advice. Thank you.
  2. Hi there, I have a 3-month old bare-bottom quarantine tank, with PVC elbow-pipe for fish' hiding place. Everytime I purchase a new fish (e.g. 2.5" Flame Angel or 3" Blue Tang) and put it inside this quarantine tank, it's breathing will be rapid & it will sadly pass away the next day. SPECS : Tank size : 40 litres Filtration : Sponge filter, air-pump driven Water change : 30% everyday; salt mix with tap water & chlorine remover, aged over 24 hours Temp : 30 C pH : 7.9 - 8.0 Ammonia : 0 ppm Nitrite : 0 ppm Nitrate : 15 ppm Copper : 0.15 ppm Any advice or comments are welcomed. Thank you.
  3. Hi guys, Looking for a 3" or 4" Blue Tang. If any kind soul can update if any LFS has it, thank you. Cheers!
  4. Dreaded ich wiped out : - Flame Angel - Coral Beauty - Tomato Clown - 2 Anthias Learned about Octozin tablets quite late, but it saved : - Yellow Tang - Blue/yellow damsels Corals (LPS), shrimps & snails seem not affected by Octozin. Here are latest pics, taken on 04 Apr 2010.
  5. Octozin tablet works! And its reef safe. At least, for my tank. Outbreak a month ago wiped out my Flame Angel, Coral Beauty, Tomato Clown & 2 Anthias. All of them were on daily frozen mysis & brineshrimp, soaked in garlic juice. My Yellow Tang and Blue Damsels also got the dreaded ich. Then Henry of MLH introduced me to Octozin from Waterlife. Henry did not carry stock of Octozin, but he was kind & selfless enough to inform that I could get it from C328. Thanks Henry - you're the man! Its been a week now, after I used Octozin. Yellow Tang & damsels have been saved - ich seems totally gone; no more disappearing on one day, then reappearing the next day in multiples. All my LPS seems blooming, as always. Cleaner shrimp & Boxer shrimp are scuttling around & eating, as per normal. Trochus snails (aka Turbo snails) are gliding along, cleaning the tank as usual. Even the tiny beneficial copepods on the glass, do not seem to be affected. Gonna wait for 5 more weeks, just to be safe, before buying livestock again. Just sharing..
  6. Sorry for late pic update, but here are some shots of the FA (poor photography doesn't do justice to the fish's beauty..)
  7. Pic soon, once I can lure this shy new beauty out of hiding. Cheers
  8. Greetings to bros jacky & lemon, Got the FA at SL today, thanks to your help. Cheers
  9. Wow! Your videography & photography are of professional class! Your post-mortem made a tank-crash seem inspirational.. Still, no doubt in sensing your deep grief of the loss. Quoting Alfred (Bruce Wayne's butler in 'Batman Begins'), "Why do we fall? So we can pick ourselves up".
  10. That's great info, bro! Really appreciate the trouble u went thru.. Actually i called SL earlier in the afternoon, but was told that there are no FAs - neither in stock nor incoming. Alas, it was a dude on the line, not a Jasmine. After work tomorrow, will detour to balestier, en route to my toa payoh residence. Have FA or otherwise, u guys are awesome!
  11. Hi there. Hopefully I am not posting this query in the wrong forum. Has anyone seen Flame Angel in any LFS, yesterday or today ? Today I hv visited & called CF, LCK, RB, RD, AM, IW, PR, PA, MLH, but to no avail. Thanking any intelligence services. Cheers
  12. Sure will, bro. Been waiting impatiently for all LFS to reopen after Lunar new year. Thanks!
  13. Yes, open top. No damsels jumped, but lost a royal gramma :'(
  14. Actually, SPS will be too demanding for me and i'm avoiding them. Having said that, I note yr view that 2 T5s may be sufficient for a 1.5' height tank. Thank u, peter sir..
  15. Really, straydum? Then I better start hunting for one. Thanks?
  16. Hi Peter, Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Am thinking of adding T5HO's and liverock, before adding more corals.
  17. Thanks, ray. That gonio was the only impulse buying livestock I did - saw it, liked it, bought it and THEN researched about it in the net. If I only did the proper way, which is the other way round, I would have learned to avoid it, because I learned that even some experts find it impossible to keep gonios alive for more than a year or so.
  18. Neat setup. Really envy that your 3 tangs can get along well (pls correct me if I am wrong - Yellow, Blue, Scopas) I have one yellow tang, and have been considering of adding a blue, but concerned about the yellow's territorial instinct..
  19. Whoa! If you were doing a sales pitch for your tank, it would have been a done deal, man! BTW, awesome SPS setup and exemplary photography, dude!
  20. Hi. Well done, to your intelligent & beautiful setup. And to a larger extent, a belated congratulations to your new bundle of joy - pretty miss digibee junior
  21. Wow! Awesome setup, man. A beautiful fruit of labour and diligence. Must be worth every sweat & backache..
