  2. Jykel.....I'm not an expert here but what I relate here is what I've been thru battling with this high nitrate few months ago. I can understand how frustration it can be to see ur water parameter are not as your expectation. Well...I agree with RAV-65....do 50% water change.....apply AZ.NO3 with due care bcos some coral are sensitive to it if u must......ensure your skimmer is in high performance....myself even went slightly further....add surface skimmer.....what I can say is...this method works for me........remember to reduce feeding...more food means more waste.....the pees and the poos....hehehe Good luck to you.......no offence pls just my ten cent opinion
  3. Agreed....maybe the hypo period is a little bit shorter. Might consider weileong ideas to extend the period between 6 to 8 weeks. Yup I lost my 1st 2nd 3rd & 4th to this little b#?!! parasites but I did acclimate all my PBT before releasing them into my tank. I even dip them into copper cure for 48 hrs. What else can I do...... all the fishes I bought was from a so call reputable LFS. Now I'm trying Octozin to remove the parasites and try my luck again. If the parasite still persist I'll get 12X coralife turbo twister to bust down this parasites. If this method doesn't help then I'll admit surrender liao....hahaha "All Tang families is out of bound"
  4. Well guys...I did carry out hyposalinity for almost a month....thinking everything was fine I tried another PBT to fit in but.... I lost it. I'm still into OCTOZIN .... and treat the tank for 10 days . After which I'll do water changes and get another PBT to see if it works....wish me luck guys...
  5. Guess what ...my PBT is dead liao.........just came back from work...noticed my dear PBT stuck itself at the live rock... ......... This is my 4th time trying to keep tang family and have not been successful...already did hyposalinity before, even FW dip ....after several month I'm trying now and still can't keep the tang to last for 2 months...grrrrrr Any gurus can help .........
  6. IMO...this OCTOZIN treatment is more for the fish parasite found on/in the water column or attached to the substrate or other areas of the tank....can be eliminated thru UV steriliser I guess.....just my 1 cent opinion
  7. Well.......way to go guys After surfing in the net me discovered the difference between Octozin and Myxazin... below are the clipped taken from one of the site I have visited. Waterlife Octozin OCTOZIN is a treatment for internal parasites such as those which cause Sleeping Sickness, Hole - In - The - Head, Seawater Angelfish and Clownfish Disease, Malawi Bloat Disease and also early stages of Dropsy. OCTOZIN may also be used to treat Whitespot in seawater aquaria where CUPRAZIN cannot be used. OCTOZIN is harmless to invertebrates and algae when used as directed. You will require three separate days of treatment to complete the course. OCTOZIN is active for up to 3 days after the last day of use. Although internal parasites are destroyed instantly, external signs of improvement to the fish may take up to 7 days. Waterlife Myxazin MYXAZIN lowers the count of harmful bacteria in aquarium water, treating Fin Rot, Body Rot, Ulcers, Sores and other bacterial infections. MYXAZIN will also help to control Pop - Eye Disease, Cloudy Eyes and Mouth Fungus. MYXAZIN should be used daily until symptoms disappear (typically this would be between 3 and 5 applications). MYXAZIN can also be used to sterilise nets and live foods such as Daphnia and Tubifex, for treating Whitespot in seawater aquaria containing invertebrates. MYXAZIN is mild on fish, highly biodegradable and effective against a wide range of fish health problems. Suitable for seawater, tropical freshwater and coldwater aquaria. Obviously...I'm keen on getting this Octozin and put it to test immediately... UV will wait till I'm done with this Octozin stuff
  8. Weileong...thks for the proposal but I do have corals and inverts in my tank ... don't think I can carry out hyposalinity in this situation.... Heard few reefers commenting on the UV light..... give some tip leh Me so sad see the PBT turning into PWT...
  9. Hi reefers......have any1 use myxazin from waterlife before to cure the whitespot / ich. My PB tang just kena, infested with the whitespot . Tried this product once which is quite successful...somewhere early this year....and now the ich is back in full force. I did dipped all the food with garlic, Kent Marine Vit C and even tried the blackout for 48hrs but still no effect. Now I'm thinking of getting a UV sterilizer.......any feedback for me to consider
  10. New picture ........ hope it will be slightly clearer
  11. temp is between 26-27C.....been with me almost a month. First 2 week bubbles is very big....now smaller leh but it still blooming......just that it wide spread instead of colonize in bubbles...
  12. Hi guys.....this bubbles of mine is not bulging/bubbling or whateva u guys called it but it is not in it usual self....meaning instead of bubbling away. it expand & spread out with less bubbles...have been observing the past few days... is this norm or is it becos of my water perimeter.. Amm-0 Nitrite-0 Nitrate-5mgl PH=8.5 KH-10dkh Cal-450 Salinity-1.023 Picture blurr...no choice had to use my hp camera....no DC yet leh....
  13. Aiyoh ......only 2 ppl only use sump meh ......I'm sure there are other reefers who have it too.....share lah....me want to know what is the best way of doing my sump leh. 14. Sorry guyz........forgot to add in the skimmer. Actually I have two skimmer running in my tank setup. One at my main tank (weipro 2013) and as for the sump I use my spare prizm to run it from the ctr (slightly above from the DSB) and exit out at the last compartment. A bit kiasu here I also have 8000k lighting for my microalgae 24/7 Btw pangz & giantbike.... for the highlight man. Need more feedback from successful reefers. Might revamp the setup in order to maximise my sump to the fullest. Pls advise . But this pod is really multiply fast as if it was infested.
  15. Hi fellow reefers...pls comment on my sump setup . Need to know the pros and cons for having this sump stuff . It had been running for 2 months. Pls look at my diagram . Sump size is 2'x1'x1.5' and alot of pods can be seen sticking to the glass moving around slowly. Sorry no digital cam for attachment. Honestly, I'm unsure if I'm doing the right thing here Your opinion is needed here. My_sump.doc
  16. Not to worry much abt the sea snakes k... they normally will shy away or attack when they are being provoke.I did have close encounter with sea snakes side by side while going for my diving at Changi beach and net casting..it got trapped into my net so I just let it crawl away...what AT says is true get a booties to be safe....as for me I'm used to the muddy area cos that is the way to get worms for fishing bait....hahaha
  17. I'm not a qualified tour guide just happen that I saw those stuff while hunting for my lionfish food ....so if you guys feel like joining that will be better...the more the merrier...hahhaa...don't worry it's safe for children too unless they are those hyper-active then I suggest have them tied down to one of the mangrove tree there ...hahaa..just kidding ...what I mean is watched them as the stone there could be slippery .....btw for those who are unsure where this chek jawa is...it is at Ubin Island just 15 min boat ride from Changi jetty. Will guide those who are unsure of getting there....take this chance ...kehkehkeh
  18. I have been to Ubin few times oledi.....but not to Chek Jawa just by the jetty to catch some small fish for my lionfish during low tide..hehee did saw sea cucumber, sea urchin, sea fan, anemones, tube anemones and many more. Seeing is more believing.... WARNING!! Do not take them unless you are ready to lose your other precious stuff in your tank....not worth!! .... hahaha the point is we are responsible to protect all this creatures from vanishing. It's about 3-4 inches long can even stretch itself to 5 inches. Is it friendly or a destroyer? ...what does this thing feed on until can be so big??
