just fyi. if you are starting brand new do follow instructions and add a little at a time. i tried dumping 500ml straight for my 3x2x2 and the bacteria growth on my tank was accelerated. its a white stringy thing appearing everywhere...the rocks the sand the tank u name it its there. once i switched off the reactor they stopped growing. so well.... hi bro one of my tank (36"x20"x20") im using 6 bulbs of full spectrum par38 (12x3W) bridgelux leds from alibaba. my lps are doing great but i havent tried sps on it so I'm not too sure. my lps includes torch, hammer, gonio,favites, acans, xenias, mushrooms, ricordeas, brains, and even one small yellow anemone from coral farm

hi bro just to share my setup for your own ideas. my overflows goes straight to my dsb/refugium. no filter sock or anything. my protein skimmer and return pump comes after it. i do not use any filter sock. all detritus is spose to remain on my deb/refugium where my aim is to let the crabs and starfishes to eat it. hope it helps. the pods i think will still be able to travel back to my DT thru the return pump.

hi bro i ever bought a small bottle of powdered bacteria from jireh marine its meant to clear foul smell and ammonia from the water. i used it for about a month for one of my new tank cycling. after cycling with a dead prawn for a few weeks i started adding this powdered bacteria and soon within a week i could really see pods moving on my glass...after adding some chromis all are gone already

not as bad as my astrea snails used to hair hair algae growing off its back...poor fella looks like a moving sea grass

i tried using the bio pellets but it seems theres a stringy brown kind of algae growing very fast on my glass everywhere. once i stop the bio pellets these brown hair algae stop growing. is there a possibility the bio pellets are providing nutrients for these algaes?

hi bro im using a skimz oveflow box with a 2000lph return pump. i think anything lower also no problem but to be safe i use a cheap dosing pump to provide constant suction pressure

chaeto for me....if i had the 2,5 ft sump i would divide it into two compartment and fill half of it full with chaeto.

i noticed some lfs have all different zones with their setup and i think their water parameters arent actually perfect either but i think different zones have different filtration capabilities. so a good reef setup maybe have all of those zones

how are you going to fertilize those eggs if you took it out from the tank?

yeap flow is impt i didnt realise untill i adjust n adjust till got it right. i think lps is a must to be fed. no need direct feeing broadcast also can. they got mouth so must eat since they cannot talk

wah ur tank looks really nice. im using standard local cheap tank 3ft tank to try keeping saltwater fish. almost a year now got zoas and a few lps. using tapwater with antichlorine. my torch n brain n favia n zoos all bought as frag from local reefer are doing well. to check kh n cal initially i use salifert but i try api i got same results. parameters just follow wat expert say but the most impt to me is salinity bcos i think its not called saltwater tank for nothing. never do direct feeding but broadcast feeding with zoo n phytoplankton, coral frenzy, poly labs, dried mysis all mixed together in a bowl then just dump the whole thing in. twice a week. my sps is in a different tank. cannot mix they like to eat dat much

anyone knows why my leather coral seems deflated??

bro this happened to me before. first time i bought mushrooms then they melted like dat overnight. then checked my salinity its abit too high. lowered it to within range then try buying mushrooms again and no problem after that. i think of all corals mushroom and xenia easiest to care

im not sure abt other but for my first tank is same 3ft tank by 18inches straight from lfs bcos my wife wanted to keep nemo. i used canister filter stuffed it with floss and carbon no problem for a while even can keep palys with cheap aquatronic t5. but fish only setup. i think its hard to get away without a sump with corals
