  1. This is confirmation ... pierce hole about one centimetre below water level.
  2. Euphoria, why spend the money and unsightly apparatus like the check valve ? Just drill the hole as suggested by friends here. I have the same .... that is, puncture a hole. Just use a small screw driver, heat it over a burner and then pierce the pvc pipe. Only thing that I cannot remember now (as in the office) is whether the hole is above the water line or below the water line. I have tested it by switching off the electric power and observe the back flow. Once air got sucked into the pipe, it stops the siphon.
  3. Fuel, don't be like that leh ... It is a big world out there. If "watercircle" is on the www, then please give web link. If "watercircle" is a bookshop or place, then please give address. Thank you.
  4. I shut down after one day cycling my tank, because of the powerhead making too much noise. Waiting for new PH. During my initial testing, I had the same problem of water in the collection cup. You should note that there is a knob in the configuration which determines the flow rate. If turned too high, water goes into the collection cup. I had to physically turn the unit upside down to drain off the water .... of course switch off the unit first. Knob should be turned/adjusted where you can visibly stay below the point where water will flow into collection cup. Understand from LFS that over time, the foam will build up and push into cup. My two cents worth.
  5. AT, good analogy of taking out shoes , etc. Agree with you. Please remove thread PDQ (Pretty Damn Quick) so that the right signal is sent out to those who cannot be a team member.
  6. Question: If the last post (from me) was on 7th Feb 2004, how come for the last two days it suddenly showed up as the "Latest Active Threads" on the left of screen ? Any gurus to enlighten ?
  7. Hi Silverfish & AlanSeah, U ppl is the can lah !!! Save monies to buy more fish. Thanks for the englightenment and possible savings.
  8. Silverfish, to put us into better perspective, can you advise how much inclusive of shipment and handling. Also, assume you convert at Sing$1.70 to US$1.00, can you convert all to Sing$ for comparison. BTW, don't go to extend of creating an Excel spreadsheet .... joke lah !! If Silverfish has not placed order, then perhaps AlanSeah can help.
  9. Ang Lee Aquarium opening hours are 12.30 pm to 9.00 pm everyday, except for an alternate Monday close. Better call if going down on a Monday, to be on safe side.
  10. Yes, Ang Lee Aquarium are full marine. Stock in terms of products are quite impressive. They are also cycling live rocks. Have other live stocks. Got a 3 feet display tank. Now cycling a new 6 feet tank.

  12. In another thread, AT asking for volunteer to help in updating a listing of LFS. RockyBoy, saw the Excel file listing. Would like to add a LFS that I use: Ang Lee Aquarium Trading Blk 114, Ang Mo Kio Ave 4 #01-361, Singapore 560114 Tel: 6452-3032 H/P: 9783-2869 Husbad (Anthony Lee) and Wife (Sherina Ang) team. Hope someone can take on the project of updating. Thanks.
  13. Has AT selected his volunteer for this assignment ? I found the Excel file that AT referred to, and would like to add on a new LFS that I use. LFS is Ang Lee Aquarium Trading in Ang Mo Kio. I am updating the info in the other thread for LFS listing.
  14. Bro Rav, don't feel bad about paying a couple $ more for your Coco. By shopping around, especially driving, will cost you much more. Take heart that you have made a good decision to add a LS into your tank and it is something you like and treasure.
  15. AT, when is next re-order ? Looks like newbies (including myself ) interested. Thanks your efforts.
  16. Cud post this "New to the Hobby" , but really have a question about chillers. Read some posts about cooling one degree in a certain time period say one hour. Pardon my ignorance, understood it to be just that literally. However, also read question like two degrees differential ? Wat does it mean ? Feel quite dumb to ask, but must ask otherwise suffer with regrets. Please enlighten this newbie.
  17. Vinceire, how much you pay for the Atman 0.5 hp chiller ? And from why ?
  18. Ppl, this is no joke and don't be careless like me. Just last night, heard a knock in tank, went to check and saw small PH dislodged from usual place. Then noticed no water current flow. Without thinking (stupid), just reach my left hand into tank. Immediately upon contact with water ........ WHAM .... got an electric shock so bad and next thing whole house was in darkness !!! There will be no replay / encore for you folks, but want you to know I could be dead !! So, please be careful ... Safety First
  19. Yeah .... I think patience is really being stretched here. The human gestation is 7 - 9 months, but I don't think most marine hobbyist is going to have to wait that long.
  20. oh btw, when then can i start skimmer ? izzit when ammonia or nitrite start to rise ?
  21. thanks bros .... good point !! going to switch off my skimmer now
  22. arcanehacker mentioned "no skimmer during cycling " why is that so ? can pls explain. thanks a zillion.
  23. Marineman, thanks. You almost said the same what was told to me by LFS.
  24. Just setup my 3 feet tank yesterday. Now cycling water. Asked same question and LFS man said we need to "bluff" corals and LS in future. If your viewing time is in evening (like after work), then time lights on to coincide, hence bluffing LS that it is daylight. My two cents worth. I stand corrected .... shy pai-seh with limited knowledge.
