  1. I like Coke !!! Besides, it is easier to spell than the other brand ... lol ..
  2. Mine is a relatively new tank. My humble beginnings - only LS is one Pajama Cardinalfish and one False Percula Clownfish. Over the last one to two weeks, caught using "Brands Chicken Essence" bottle a total of three small crabs.
  3. My tank 3 ft x 1.5 ft x 2 ft with sump tank 2.5 ft x 1ft x 1.25 ft. Just bought a Resun CL450
  4. Bought two common dancing shrimps of about 3cm size on Saturday. Best I could identify from photos is "Crustacea; Decapoda; Rhynchocinetidae". Able to see them clinging to side and sometimes underside of rocks for first few hours. Thereafter, the rest of Saturday till Monday morning, no trace of them. Any advice from the gurus or perhap Sherlock Holmes to find solve the case ? Thanks.
  5. FuEL, now it's all coming back to me. The pics reminded me of my home theatre setup and computer station. All those electical wires, etc. are like spaghetti. Wat's your opinion about hiding and enclosing them in flexi tubing. Any kind advice wud be appreciated.
  6. Sorry folks, will not reply any more in this forum. May rightly be in the Kopi-Tiam forum Be careful of "Tick-Tock" from boss AT or even a yellow card. Bye
  7. I recall reading in the book "Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History" by Eric Borneman, believe in the chapter on handling corals, that it is okay to use glue to bond corals together with rocks. This is to prevent corals falling off the rocks and killing it and others it crashes on eventually. That being the case, it is therefore implied that it is okay to glue rocks together. Hope it is helpful.
  8. Personally, I don't have much confidence in the quotation on "Exotic Fishes". Just a couple of marine tanks will not make us happy. But they may have the Loch Ness monster ..... hahaha
  9. Cookie/Wormmunster - you is the can lah, when you mentioned "Many times when we handle live rocks and get a sudden prickly feeling in the fingers which doesn't go away and you can't see anything in the fingers....this is the result of being stung by the bristles." Now I know it is this SOB who is giving me much grief. Thanks for the revelation.
  10. Look around friends' tanks and piping configurations. Surf the net as there are many many websites until your eyes turn blur. Then you decide how you want yours done. Then when it comes to DIY, and you find its not worth your time, effort, money and knowledge, go ask your LFS to do it all for you. My two cents worth.
  11. Nic a Jon, so what did you do with the 7 inch worm ? Did you put it back into the tank or terminate its life or whatever ? Cookiemunster, is this worm best left alone or should be removed ?
  12. I have a Shihtzu, adopted from SPCA when he was three years old. It's about nine years old now. Made monthly visits to two Children's Homes as part of a "Pet Assisted Therapy" programme. Great partner.
  13. I was in freshwater for about four years. Then on Chinese New Year's eve, the tank started leaking. That's when I switched over to marine the following month. So, think about it ..... the reverse situation could happen .... you then get a quitter !! Just one more reason to add.
  14. Wow !! so much prejudice against FW. But who cares .... this is SW SRC ppl here ... sure one sided talk. BTW, I have just sent an email to presumably the organizers asking percentage between FW and SW exhibits. If they reply, will post it here.
  15. Disappointed because not getting the results, that is, reducing nitrate ?? or because you get more of the particles on the floor than in the tank ?? Do u have same problem of the static like I mentioned earlier ?
  16. Wow !!! this is a really old thread. Just started using .... hope I don't regret. Every time I use a plastic teaspoon to scoop the contents, there is so much static that the particles start to "fly" all over the floor. The particles are so fine like sand. It is frustrating. One feels that more of it is spilled on the floor than in the tank. Question: Can anyone help to overcome this problem of static electricity ?
  17. AnakJoh, btw, what is the address of the "most established marine LFS in KL."
  18. Careful when comparing products or any reviews. To cover yourself, use a term like "all things being equal" . Otherwise opposite side (or those on the ring side) may throw gunk.
  19. Have anyone heard of Photoshop or other photo editing programs ? Make your own deductions !!! Next thing you may see our flourishing reefs in the Sahara desert leh.
  20. Earlier posts are now showing some level headed ppl. It is important to realize that this is a biz venture and not to be taken lightly. AT and intended team would need to consider their SWOT, i.e. strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This is definitely not an intent to teach marketing (it is not my profession anyway), but bottom line is about money which is very close to my heart. lol AT, being an editor of sort, would have realized who are his intended (wish) and real (factual) audience. Do we have a large customer base out there ? Can these folks sustain the publication ? I like the views of Yazid who so honestly see the internet as a good source of information. I cannot agree more. On my part, I go to the library or buy authoritative books, besides surfing the net. I sincerely apologize if I sounded negative, but I do not want to see AT and team losing their pants over this, but I honestly wish them well. With best wishes ......
  21. Perhaps "volunteer" is not a good choice of word to use. As per AT, "publishing can be a good business if one is able to keep his overheads down ...." So, lets be realistic that this is gonna be a business venture. Those with business acumen, entrepreneurship and related resources may wanna consider. My two cents worth ....
  22. Let's go back to the FIRST golden rule - don't buy on impulse or worst, not even knowing what you buy. Should the big Sea Apple dies on you, then you just have to cry over the crash and wipe out.
  23. I'm using Macro, but presently not switched on yet as I am cycling my new tank. Should the opportunity presents itself, I will give my feedback.
  24. This is confirmation ... pierce hole about one centimetre below water level.
