  11. Hi all, Decided to have my tank built as a divider between my study and dining room. Just completed the renovations on my house. The photographs were taken while the renovations were still in progress, please excuse the poor quality. All comments and advice are fully welcome! Thanks for viewing! First pic: Arrival of the stand and tank!
  12. Think that it doesn't matter when it comes to size between shrimp and fish. In my case it was a six-line wrasse. Had a banded coral shrimp that was abt 1.5 times the size of the wrasse. The wrasse pecked out the shrimp's eyes first, then the head. You'd think that with the long claws of the banded coral shrimp it'll at least put on a fight but no chance for the shrimp at all. Became fish food in under 10 sec!
  13. Blueheaven certainly DOES have a point. This is something we could all look into as a club. Maybe I'm wrong but I do know of some people ,especially divers (I dive myself), who feel that reefers are destroying the coral reefs by buying corals which are sometimes illegally harvested. Maybe adopting a reef home as a club could show that we also care about reef conservation and give the public a positive view of us. Just my 2cents.
  14. Well done blueheaven! Nice MH frame! Looks very stable!
  15. Hi haanzii, Best bet is to use limewater like sunny03 said. Difficult trying to hunt down peppermint shrimp coz quite rare. LFS will bring in on occassion. Got to do immediate action ASAP so the aiptasia will not spread. All the best!
  16. Hi! Anyone got a large pipe cutter I could borrow? Got the small one but need the large one to cut my 1.5" pvc piping. Thanks!
  17. Good on you Gouldian! Spoken like a true gentleman. What you say is true...the sad fact of the matter is that in general, we have all grown to be a selfish society with no thought spared for others. We only know how to complain when something such as the example that you have quoted happens to us or our loved ones but we hardly ever bother to spare a thought for others. Take for example whenever I take the MRT and happen to give my seat to an elderly person, pregnant lady or someone who needs it more than I do. Some would look at me as if I had done the most stupid thing in the world or pretend to sleep. Anyway, hope everything's going well for you, wifey and the little frag! BTW, home visit's still on. Just give me a buzz.
  18. Wow! The corals have grown alot since the last time I saw your tank! Congrats! Beautiful tank!
  19. Personally, I prefer to scrub the LR when I get home, then give it a hypersalinity bath (abt 20min). Critters will start jumping out...have found bristleworms, mantis shrimps, crabs etc in the bath after removing the LR. Then it's into a tub of NSW with a powerhead and an airpump+airstone for abt 1wk. Then change water and soak for another week bfore placing in the tank. What to do...K.S syndrome.
  20. Wah piang eh! You too modest already! So many nice stuff you've got in your tank!
