  1. Hi Bro FinBir, that mean the Acrylic cover is to cover the LED from the water bubbles, right? Then how do you hang the LED panel basket on top of the bottom algae basket, above your sump tank?
  2. Oh no, Bro Xiggie, this is not writing too much, I really appreciate it alot. I surely have a lot to learn from you. I saw you DIY excellently. And thank you very much for sharing with me the LED seller contacts as well. I have searched ebay just now, and found the seller. The shipping terms says est delivery eta to be 2-Jun to 19-Jun (alittle too long for me to wait), so I will go find at local LED distributor at AMK to see if they have something similar. If they don't, then I will buy from the Hongkong seller whom you recommended. Yah, I was thinking of such as well, that the algae will grow on the glass of sump and if we scrapped it, some left overs will be suck by the return pump into the DT as well. So that is the common of Upflow scrubble. Downflow will have splash & sprays. Seemed like a floating scrubber is indeed a much worth considerable choice indeed. Hmm... I have some space problem if that's the case. Coz I have 5 compartments in my sump. First small compartment is for the downpipes. Second is for the skimmer and reactors. Third is for filters and biobaterias. Fourth is very small 20cm square space for refugium/ chaeto(I'm converting this to Algae chamber), Last is the return pump compartment. Maybe I will consider changing second compartment into floating scrubber chamber later.
  3. Haha, paiseh, a lot of questions from me hor?! I'm trying to beat algae growth in my display tank. Green, red cyano, dino flags, diatoms etc... Sianz... always need to wet my hands at night when got home from work, and I think this shouldn't be the case. Decided that I have to learn from my seniors here... Hope you all can guide me too. Thank you and Thank you.
  4. Hi Bro Finbir, I saw yours attached to a aluminium tray(simulating a heat sink I presumed), but I didn't see Bro Xiggie's design, did he post too, can't find it in here? Or it's at another chat or forum? Can let me know which one, so I can go find and learn from you all too? - For your filter mat housing, I can't figure out how it was designed, can share? I can understand that a Ferrero choc box is clear acrylic, but how you stick with rubber stoppers? drill hole and cable tie them? Prevent spray means it won't kena your LED right? - Can I asked a question, when you use this green/ white basket as the housing for the algae growth, I believe some lights would have shine passed it sideways or to the bottom floor of sump, will the bottom of your sump tank glass also grow algae?
  5. Thank you very much Bro Bright. I will give it a try tomorrow, see if I'm in luck to do so. You all are marvelous DIY creators! Thanks.
  6. Hi Bro Xiggie and Brother Finbir, can I know what is the LED and Adaptor used and where you all got it from? Can guide me? As I'm thinking of buying something similar to Santa Monica LED. But since this LED PCB works, and I see like much easier, no heat sink needed also. Is it water proof? If your scrubber is covering the bottom piece, won't it have splashes that will kena the LED N PCB?
  7. I want to build something similar to this, but I must first get the right red LED. And I understood from a Engineering friend, LED is measured in Lumens. Any idea how many Lumens?
  8. Hi Bro Xiggie, any idea how many Lumens I should get?
  9. Hi guys, does anyone know what is best red LED spec for growing algae? Example: the Santa Monica red LED, I only know its' 660nm(wavelength). Anyone knows how many Lumens? I want to contain my Algae growing to within my sump refugium chamber, so want to come up with some ideas to make myself. Can someone assist if you have the experience? Thanks.
  10. Bro Slayer213, I saw you posted a picture of a flame angel. Can I know if there were a lot of flame angels to choose from when you were there at Iwarna this morning? Do you happened to know how much they selling as well?
  11. WaPiangz! I had the same issue too when I was using a 1HP Hailea Chiller. Hot air Hot air everywhere in my living room, and decided to sell it away and buy a compressor instead. Lucky a nice bro here intro a 1 HP Daikin compressor(titanium coil) direct aircon distributor to me, which is below the market price. It was a much better investment than a chiller indeed. 7-9 mins running time only, indeed as told by reefers here, for my 4 feet with sump tank each time as compared to 1.5h plus with chiller. Much energy savings too, and higher resale value if I were to sell it off in future. I find the hot air from compressor warm, but not as hot as the Hailea Chiller(of coz as it was blowing 1.5h of hot air into my living room!)
  12. Hi guys, anyone know which LFS has stock for flame angel, small size like below 2 inch?
  13. Yes Bro, I only introduced 1 yellow tang, and didn't actually believed that it ate all my beautiful "forest" too! (Blue Tang = I'm clueless) Wow! Seemed to me that your water has some parameter problems lurking. I'm not pro in this area, and only happened to by sheer luck know the best mechanical way to remove hair algae is a yellow tang, as it's impossible to scrub the green algae off those rocks. For water parameters, perhaps must seek help from our professionals reefers here liao... By then, you can safely introduced a yellow tang by using Bro SubzeroLT mentioned: drip acclimatize to improve their survival rate. All the best bro.
  14. Hi Bro, my display tank was full of hair algae some 3 weeks ago. On the rocks, and on the back panel glass of my display tank. And they are really hard to get rid especially those on the rocks. I have decided to give up then, since its really difficult to brush off even when I took out the rocks to rinsed and used toothbrush! But you know what? All the difference you need is to introduce a Yellow Tang. It will take care of all your hair algae, including those where you cannot clear with your toothbrush on your live rocks. In fact, I didn't wanted to clear my fully-covered-nicely green hair algae on the back panel glass of my display tank, as they simply looks nice and even. And I just don't believe that only 1 yellow tang could possibly eat so much hair algae. And I mean really a lot, coz its a 4 feet. It took it few days to finished those hair algae on the rocks at first. And gradually, bit by bit, I realized, my beautiful hair algae on the back panel... all gonez...
  15. Hi Bro ATcraz, I saw your DIY algae scrubber, and get impressed by you. Can I learn from you about your DIY ikea box algae scrubber you made 2 years back? Can I know a few info from you, because I had wanted to do a DIY Santa Monica ATS Hog3 which submerged in the water actually, but then saw your design in SRC and got curious on a few issues. Can I know:- 1. Did the DIY Algae scrubber box gives off the slightest algae smell into the air? Mild to heavy, if you rate from 1 to 10? 2. Is it effective till date? And do you think there is a need still to run other equipment like reactors Rowas, phosphate, calcium etc? 3. What is the most critical issues you had faced with it till date(if you are still using)? 4. Have you further implemented/ upgraded the design you had back in 2013? And if you could share? You surely impressed me with your simple, yet innovative design of the DIY Algae scrubber, and although it's within a box, I felt you really "think out of the box"! Kudos to you man!
  16. Bro, I had the same trouble too. I think mine might just die and melt away, since it has also been crumply, more worst than yours. Anyone out there can help on this?
  17. Thanks, Bro Xiggie. Hope I can managed to find all 4 of them when I'm there.
  18. Hi Bro Chris, do you have An Beng and Ng Couple's company name or their addresses? Thank you. I managed to find from the street directory as: 1. Aquarium Iwarna : 70, Pasir Ris Farmway 3, S(518234) 2. Pinnacle Aquatics & Marine Specialist : 22 Pasir Ris Farmway 2, S(519325)
  19. Hi Bro ml708, can I know other than Pinnacle, and Iwarna, which other Marine fish aquariums are there at Pasir Ris? Or very nearby? Thought of making a trip over this weekend. Quite far for me, so want to ensure I cover all before I leave the area. Thank you.
  20. Anyone knows where I can find smaller size about 2inch : - Flame Angel - Yellow Tang - Purple Tang
  21. Hi Bro, can you guide me to the forum? I'm quite new to this reefclub. How do I go there? Look for Vinccc2009? What is your shop name, so easier for me to find too.
  22. Bro, haven't seen you reply my message. Can let me know soon when you see this? Thank you.
  23. Hi Bro, I had PM you in the afternoon, can advise me? Thanks.
