Yo Chris.....Gilbert's lighting comes with 2 MH and think 2 to 4 PLs (compact flors) anyway why u stil want FLs??? PLs are more powerful, cost less and last longer....I bot one set of PL lighting from him the other day...2 pls per hood...each pl is split into two diff kelvon range i.e one side blue the other white....quite powerful....

eh TanGo.....UVs must be switched on 24hrs a day 365days a year to be truely effective especially if u dun wan to quarantine yer new stock..... ......NUKE EM ALL!! i say!

I used to hand catch platax teira from the beach....one time i chance upon one that is only .5mm in length!!.....so cute...anywayz he grew into a monster in just a month......ate everything....i even share my apples with that little critter.....anyway.....one day i decoded to put him in my reef tank....which funnily only hav 1 apitasia (which i fed quite regularly).....that crazy batfish ate up the anemone....but kena some scaring on his face...which cleared up in a day or two....SO.....u shld try them batfishy....use them & release them back into the wild...

eh Qoo...jio u check out this glass shop opp. mindef.....his worker's skill in siliconing not bad....but i tink they make tanks without much science involved...however all u need is to specify exactly how u wan yer tank to be made and tink he'll do it to yer specs...price quite low too...only bad thing is that he dun even cut styrofoam 4 u so dun even tink abt other forms of asthetics....

hehe....I do a mathematical model of heat transfer of a mini-reef aquarium 4 my hons project.....will be using it to come up with a fan cooled system that has low evaporation rate....but dun noe if can work or not yet....

Hi guys......i bot 1 Coral-Life MH pandant from sea life 2 years ago....can anyone tell me the best price in the market.....ok ok.....sea life may have slashed me but that's not the point......I have not used it.....its 175w buld is brand new... no oxidation watever and am willing to part with it for some $$$......i intended to use it when i m setting up my new tank and now its almost done but my mum sayz that its too big 4 a HDB!!!......so I tot of selling and replacing it wif the exact one Gilbert has (Marine Pets) on his kickasss display tank.....

heard they taste really good........anyway y dun u keep him in a separate tank & just keep him as a pest ..i mean peT?......their feeding action really POWER!!....

Any1 been to Gilbert's shop (Marine Pets @ Odean Katong)?...he got 1 KICKass display tank......tink abt 4 -5ft and he's using those sit on tank edge lighting hoods that come wif 2 MH and tink a couple of PLs!!!! POWERFUL effects....jio u all go & see.......but his shop only that tank chio....he only do setup 4 pple dun sell fish one.....

$18 Xpensive??!! ......cheapest I can fine oredi......

Ah yah just buy a H & S skimmer....its comparable to the famous ETSS (external tower scrubber skimmer).....no more worries abt the performance or looks or power comsumption....BEST skimmer so far in Singapore.....btw I not selling for SAM ...just my opinion

I strongly recommend custom tanks.....I myself have ordered custom made tanks 4 myself & my clients & frds.....only disadvantage is the tank stand...very troublesome to find and very X to custom.....I use Ikea's sten to hold my 3fts....they r reputed to hold up to 500kg but pple tink that's bullS***.....anyway they hold up till now mayb cos I laquer and add strong brackets to them.....my tank design same as yours.....as 4 the noise you need to fill the entire overflow wif bioballs and or aquarium wool to muffle the noise.....without them DAMm noisy but with them just right.....

oh 4 got yer last question......I personally feel that the size of your overflow section should be decided on the expected bio-load of tank...larger 4 larger......& if u r gona use eggcrates for some of the partition within the overflow section, I suggest u measure the eggcrate squares b4 u decided wat size....dun worry 2 much abt the flow of the water 2 much....unless u plan too go skinny on the size...

Yoz! normally 3ft tanks use 25mm grey PVC connector. Also always remember to use thicker glass for the base of the display tank if drilling is intended....or & not to patronize u or anything.....styrofoam the base to level of any uneven plane. Think the structural integrity of your design should have no prob....

Maybe Hawkfish used just the right concentration as recommended. Its quite a feat to calculate the exact volume of your reef tank with a overflow & a sump tank ....anywayz medication (usually) works but too little --uneffective & too much -- coral byebye...
