  1. i had such similar experience before. sad to say... it never went into full bloom. it died eventually.
  2. I got the signal goby. Will monitor the situation. When you guys mentioned that it will not last long in captivity... what's the average lifespan then in an aquarium?
  3. thanks... but i still don't get what FR means. it's not listed there.
  4. Tube is the Jebo 10000K 24W Twin (blue + white) PL. The casing don't know what brand, but bought it at Nature Aqurium at Thomson Road for I think around $60. And I seriously think the light is too powerful for such a small tank.
  5. I'm new here. What's FR and the other abbreviation you guys use here? Is there a glossary which I can look up?
  6. I'm new to marine aquarium... so I started off with a very small tank and it's sitting on my office desk.
  7. I used the Tetra Nitrate remover (the granule form). Seems to be working quite well. Nitrate is zero.
  8. Read from this link that there is such a thing like a Nitrate Sponge. Where can I find it in Singapore? Does it fit into different sizes filters? I'm kinda having some PO4 problems but not NO3. I need to get rid of them. If there is no such thing as the Nitrate Sponge here, then what's the best way to effectively remove PO4?
  9. I had the same problem too. My yellow-belly damsel is so spoiling for a fight with my new tomato clown. Know what happened? After some scuffling here and there, the clown ripped off the whole pectoral fin from the damsel. After that incident, that bugger stopped bothering the clown fish. I guess, it takes some serious beatings to mellow down the bugger huh?
  10. What is the best and most effective sand-shifter out there? I want something to move the sand so that there won't be much algae build-up.
  11. my tank has been up and running since the begining of the year. by the way, it's those 1.5 ft tank. i put it on my desk in the office. the NO3 is low because i use the Tetra Minus Nitrate granules. i have not tried any PO4 remover yet. i use the pipe water that runs through a filter system for top-up. for water change, it's filtered sea water. by the way, what causes PO4 to build up?
  12. it's those greenish-brown layer of slimy algae. once they cover the sandbed, it looks like a green carpet. i don't know the name for it. and then on the rocks, i get those dark brown ones. you can literally peel them off the surface of the rocks. don't worry, it's not coraline algae. by the way, i use the Sera test kit. should be ok right?
  13. you meant to say that they can divide themselves up and grow separately?
  14. i'm new to marine aquarium. i want to know which type of hermit crab is good at controlling algae and where can i find it? i'm kinda tired with this problem. don't know how come so much. my NO3 is 0 and PO4 is near 0. still i find them on my sandbed, glass, rocks... you name it, they are there.
