regret putting sand into my setup..... it becomes very dirty after awhile. if you want aesthetics, i suggest you use undergravel filter and direct the pump into your sump.

i just use a mineral water bottle. cut away the top of the bottle. at the bottom end of the bottle. cut a opening so that you can put food in. lure the fish in slowly and once its in, just close with anything....net, ladle...watever cross section of mineral water bottle. ____Feed here ____________ I l l l________________________

maintenance for a skimmer is so much easier than a algae scrubber...... cheato can do the job too..... easy maintenance.

i dose with kent marine iron twice a month. its a critter paradise....

make sure your tank is not overcrowded. keep your water condition good. I usually dont do anything in the event of ich. I just make sure all water parameters is ok. and ride it out. usually the ich will just die off.... i am not sure if my cleaner shrimp is helping ..... advise is buy your livestocks from good shops.... aquamarin is my favourite.

I am just using a haelia chiller. My tank is in a corner in my living room (5rm HDB). sound and heat is negligible. dun really feel it and my estate is pretty quiet. housing it in a cabinet above is good cos hot air rises. you will feel the heat less. but i presume you are running a return pump from a sump?? if yes, you will need a very powerful pump to pump water from sump to your ceiling. at least 2+ meters....

1) for light set, LED because your tank will be small. should minimise heat. checkout maxspect 2) JBJ ocean pulse wavemaker. just get 2 decent powerheads. I am using the tunze ones. 3) I am using the bubble magus in sump. good and cheap and reliable. think they have a hang on.

advise is get a chiller bro. fans cause water to evaporate fast. and if your top up water is not zero ppm in impurities you will be adding alot of impurities. keeping water temp below 28deg will reduce algae. as for your cloudiness, it should have cleared by now. they are pretty cheap these days. I have a hailea one for sale if you are interested.

if you look at the german 2pins, they have a grounding metal part on top but its flat compared to the normal 3pin plugs. if you stick it into out normal adaptors that do no have a metal contact on top, your equipment is not grounded and hence stray voltages cannot flow out. look for the proper eur plugs adaptors, if not just buy a 3pin plug and change it. see attached pic. notice on top, the proper adaptors have a metal contact on top. that will solve your stray voltages which is quite common.

guys, change those round Euro 2 pin plugs away to a 3 pin. No need to ground the chasis. or simply get a proper adaptor. those EURO 2 pin plugs will not be grounded if you use those cheap multi adaptors.

copepods and amphipods.... small crustaceans. good for clearing detritus and good food source

not very sure about that... but i think they are eventually the same thing calcium...sandbed no need super duper deep. ard 3-4 inches enough. think anything above 6inches may become toxic. by the way, the caribsea's grain size is good... not too big or too small.... my whole sandbed is now colonized with pods! mandarins' heaven!! haha

i am using the caribsea live sands, good. but i am using the hawaiian black... the grain size is a little big. but my tank cycled in less than 2 weeks having a little brown algae problem though...but probably new tank syndrome

by the way, its really good stuff as my tank cycled in within 12days. currently 0 nitrates and 0 phosphate even though its 10ml of marine snow and 1/2 cube of mysis feeding everyday.

this is the type of plug. our sockets are not suited to ground this type of plugs.

Usually original 2 cables should ok as they are usually small appliaces. probably more applicable to larger items with higher wattage such as heaters and chillers etc.... i am refering to the big fat round pins that requires an adapter to mount the socket. if the equipment is properly earthed, any stray voltages will be conducted away instead of remaining in your water. in countries without 3 pins, aquarist actually use grounding plugs made of titaniam to ground their tanks. stray voltages is suspected to cause Head and Lateral Line Erosion HLLE disease on fishes

Hi all, Just to share. Just wondering if you guys measure if theres any stray voltage in your tank. My corals (even easy mushrooms) despite perfect water conditions was not opening well and fishes appeared timid. at first i tot My tank was pretty new so maybe still acclimatising and cycling in.... till i read about stray currents!!! i tested my water with a voltmeter and found out that there was actually current in my water which we humans dun really feel it. I tested all the equipments and it turned out that the chiller and Ehiem returm pump were the culprits because they were using the round 2pin plugs and hence not properly earthed. quickly changed the plugs to the standard 3pins one and now even my Jewel coral is in full bloom! fishes are not hiding that much too. immediate response. so guys, please do some easy check on your tanks. simple volt meter is less than $20 and its advised to check regularly incase any old equipments are leaking. Gd luck!!
