  1. Most advice I've had says to soak it in freshwater for 15 minutes. That seems to kill most flat worms, bristle worms, and makes the crabs and shrimp jump out the holes. That will not get rid of aiptasia or bubble algae. They have to be scrubbed off with a clean brush.
  2. You can use any nori or laver seaweed from the market store. Just make sure it does not have spices or salt added to it. Roasted is OK, but sun-dried is better.
  3. Sounds like diatoms. They should go away with more time. If the live rock was taken out of the water for awhile or allowed to get too hot or cold, the rock will start another cycle in the tank from the die-off of small animals and algae that live in the rock.
  4. Here's a good link that will help explain what different parts of an aquarium are. http://www.melevsreef.com/ And here's another link to nano tanks. http://www.nano-reef.com/
  5. You shouldn't add a calcium supplement to a new salt mix. It already has some in it.
  6. It does look like Cyno bacteria. You can vacuum it out with a turkey baster to help keep it from spreading.
