  1. Well I don't have the authority to discuss the pros and cons, but I 'd like to share my experience in the skimmers. In the past, i used to have Weipro because it is much cheaper, but the result is not that good. One year ago i changed to Macro ( needle wheel model ) and i am now quite satisfied with its performace. One thing i can say about the cons of Macro is that it is really quite noisy. If you ask my opinion, i would vote for macro.

  3. Besides cyanide poisoning, I wonder people get cleaner wrasse to help cleaning up white spots on their fishes, it may be the time water quality of the tank is not that good. As it is quite sensitive to poor water quality, most of them would not survive long.
  4. Both Bubble and Hammer are most easy to keep, my tank only runs on Berlin system with T5HO, but both of them are growing bigger and bigger. I wonder they are even tougher than mushroom and button!
  5. Hi, it is very interesting to read thro all the 15 pages of discusion. Very nice setup and detailed account. It would be perfect if you install a chiller, not only it helps to lower the temp, but more importantly to keep it relatively constant and stable for your fishes and coral.
  6. i have one for 2 yrs, and i give small pieces of shrimp occaionally to the coral. My experience is it would look greater having the shrimp! It should be relatively easy to keep, no worry.
  7. I see the picture of your tank, but you seem not using undergravel filtration, are you try the deep sand bed way to help doing the filtration? With the setup like this, I would strongly advise undergravel, though you need to prepare for maintanence problem, clogging of the system sooner or later, it is an effective filtration method I ever seen. Light is not your main concern if you go for FOT, I suppose you won' t keep reef, right? The fishes you listed are all good for starter, I would like to have goby or cleaner shrimp as the first tankmate, this would add to the least problem of introducing new fish later, the key is to add less aggressive fish first. Be careful not to add to big or too fast to the tank.
