  1. I'm currently using a HOB and it's being a month since I started this tank.
  2. Thanks for the advise. Don't think I can have a sump as there is no space below my cabinet. That macro needlewheel as100 right? I've read that it has salt spraying problem and wonder if it's that bad?
  3. Thanks for the info. But since it's a nano tank and there is already not enough space, by placing the skimmer half submerged in the tank, wouldn't it occupy lots of space? I'm having a 2ft nano tank too and I'm awared that it's good to have a skimmer. But due to the high cost and bulkiness of it, I'm still hesitating and looking for a smaller hang on type and probably less than $100. Understand there are some that suit but I've also read that the noise and salt spraying problem. Just don't wish to rush to buy something and later find that it's not suitable and end up posting in the sell/buy thread hehe. Hope you all understand a newbie thoughts.
  4. What is an air driven skimmer? What is the usual brand for such a skimmer and roughly how much will it cost? Any lfs selling such a skimmer? Is it hang outside the tank or need a sump? Thank you.
  5. Haha, that's why I still didn't buy it. Beyong my budget for a beginner.
  6. The red one very expensive right? Is it around $50?
  7. I've a small blue tang (about 1.5cm only) and 2 cleaner shrimps. This little fellow has been chasing these 2 shrimps into their cave until they dare not come out to eat during feeding time. As time passed by, this blue tang even goes in and fight with one of the shrimp. One of them died, and he still continued to fight with the other shrimp. Finally yesterday or the day before, the blue tang was missing and the cleaner shrimp indeed start coming out to hunt for food. Till now, the blue tang is still missing in action and can't even find his dead body. More like in the movie "Finding Nemo" but it's true and it's going on in my tank! Couldn't even believe it myself.
  8. So how often do you guys maintain or clean the SEIO 820 or 620?
  9. BTW, the shopkeeper also tell me that Aquaz is from US and there is another blue from Germany called Aqua Light and it's $26 for 2ft tube which will last longer - about 2 years. And it's about 20K. Any idea what's the difference between this 2 products? Are they both from Aquaz? Understand the later is called Coral Blue instead of Actinic Blue.
  10. Can this be used as a normal filter like the HOB for nano tank?
  11. Anyone can confirm? Really no idea on this.
  12. Is it something like this and need a pump to work?
  13. Thanks. Mine is a 2ft nano tank and I'm using a HOB. Can I place the wool round the rowaphos and place it in the HOB as a filter media?
  14. May I ask how to use this rowaphos? What brand is this rowaphos and in what form is it - solid?
  15. I've just bought a 2ft 24W Aquaz Blue Actinic yesterday at $20. Seems like the stock level is low especially for 2ft. I was told by the store fellow that this Aquaz actinic blue is about 7,000+ K and the shelf-life is about 6mths. Wonder if it's true? Is the Aquaz actinic blue really 7,000+ K instead of 20K?
  16. I've bought one that is already bleached. I didn't know it's called bleached and onli after buying it, then fellow hobbyists told me on the net. Thereafter, I didn't feed it with mysis shrimp but juz cyclopeez. Water flow is medium and lighting is medium. But I'm not dishearten yet, will try again. Thanks for all the infos guys.
  17. Yep confirm die alreadi. Took it out and smell - SMELLY hehe. Thrown.
  18. Thanks guys. Can I say it's time to throw it away coz no hope leow?
  19. OK here is the attached photo. See the arrow pointing at the transparent slimy thing coating over the brain.
  20. Thanks for the reply. But the brain is so hard, will it still melt and turn soft? Mine has a transparant coat of slimy thing on it (will post picture later). Onli target feeding with live bbs and cyclopeez so far. But will buy the Hikari mysis later and try.
  21. May I know how to tell that a brain (open brain coral) is died or going to die? When I touch the open brain, it's normally hard, if it has died - will it turn soggy or soft like 'melting effect'? Any tell tale sign that a brain is going to die?
  22. Thanks. Will try feeding it with mysis shrimp.
  23. Thanks. I've been feeding them with live bbs and cyclopeez.
  24. Thanks for the info and reply. Can the feeding of brain make do with live bbs and cyclopzee too? I've placed the cauliflower in the lesser light position and a better current place. Read here that it's rather difficult coral to handle and needs feeding as well. Will bear that in mind. Thank you.
  25. Just bought this and not too sure if this is called a Brain and it's Neon Green in color; Today I'm seeing small little 'bubble liked' growing round the inner rim (which is about 3 days later after I bought it). What are these little things growing in it and is it doing ok or something wrong with it? See below;
