  1. ditto. firmly believe in adopting. i've had many dogs, used to live in kampong. bull terriers to goldies to pariahs, they all love you the same make a trip to SPCA, i saw some pedigrees before. abandoned once even dalmatians after the 101 craze...
  2. i wa just wondering if anyone here is a coke bottle fanatic. if so, how much would you pay for them? is there a difference between empty and unopened ones? world cup ones, bottles from other countries, they all look the same to me... i dun get it, they're soda bottles whats so collectable about them?
  3. i have them too, can buy from most hardware shops, the kind they use for washing machine outlets. abt $3, comes in diff lengths
  4. AVA and HDB? ya but later they check my own house how? better first.. try the skimmate
  5. MY EYES!!!! MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!! (rolling on floor with hands on face)
  6. i hate mosquitoes too.. used to think it was somewhere in my house BUT!!! i took a tour around my place, i have nieghbours who have water features outside their main gate, the kind with artificial pond and fish spouting water (ya, HDB) another one has a HUGE koi pond, abt 4 x 2 x 3 another keeps a jungle at the stairway... there are so many potted plants there, you'd think he could charge admttance. anyway, i got me one of those elecronic repellants... theres no more mosquitoes now in my bedroom, but the living room still has the occasional wraith. uh..who can i complain too har? they all live on the same floor, just below me i should start to put my skimmate in their ponds and plants
  7. dude, i'm using H&S too, my bubbles level is a little higher than yours... but that is also dependant on yourself, adjust it till you get nice skimmate. it took abt 5days before the dark skimmate started to form, before that...nothing. as for the sump level, it should not be high to the extent that it blocks the output of the skimmer. i had some fine bubbles too, but thay also disappeared after a while. you can play around with the air intake too, that will also control the micro bubbles, but IMO..its best left entirely open good luck on your tweaking. p.s. ITS A DAMN GOOD SKIMMER
  8. did you guys click on GOTO? there are 2 more clips there!!! the music synchro is great!!! even more funny than the ABC song...
  9. $42k is a lot of money, to do what comes naturally? why not and he's already an idol to many in his own weird way. many ang mos also start by making a fool of themselves... look at jim carrey, and my all time fav, jerry lewis i say laugh all they want, i'll laugh my way to the bank besides, 1yr from now, who will remember him? but he'll be a little bit richer, and a little bit famous... i only hope that "Singapore Idol" will be up to standard instead of eing a rip off.... i wonder who will be 'simon'? Asha gill of weakest link comes to mind... dun you just wanna slap her upstart ^%$#$%^&* face?
  10. just got this on my mail... dunno if its true but ... its a giant step for underdogs everywhere Hung's $42k deal American Idol reject offered recording contract SHE bangs and he scores - even though he can't sing and has no looks to speak of. American Idol reject William Hung not only has a cult following, he also has something that many contestants don't - a US$25,000 (S$42,058) recording deal offer. Last week, Koch Entertainment, the largest independent record company in the US, offered the 21-year-old a recording contract that includes a music video for his first single -to be aired on American music network, Fuse, reported PRNewswire last week. The offer came after the University of California, Berkeley, civil engineering undergraduate performed his now-famous rendition of Ricky Martin's She Bangs at a school men's volleyball game on Wednesday. Hung gave a polite smile but no immediate reply, reported the Associated Press on Saturday. The Hong Kong-born Hung, who moved to California as a child, won fans worldwide after he appeared on American Idol 3, sang a dreadful version of She Bangs and announced that he had never taken singing lessons. Now, there are T-shirts immortalising his Idol "adieu", "I have no professional training. I already gave my best. I have no regrets at all." Fuse president Marc Juris said: "Everyone one of us is joyfully guilty of singing our favourite song at the top of our lungs with wild abandon, all the while completely off-key and uninhibited. That's what William did and instantly won the hearts of America." He also won himself a place on the US TV circuit. Last week, he appeared on Entertainment Tonight and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and had DeGeneres laughing: "I love him! I love him!" after he performed an abbreviated version of another Martin song, Shake Your Bon Bon. Hung admits to struggling with his studies but intends to graduate and is still calling music his hobby, said AP. He is also non-committal about a reported plan for him to appear on a "loser" special for American Idol: "Uncut, Uncensored and Untalented." According to AP, Hung "seems to suspect some people are laughing at him, not with him"- but he is not letting that get him down. He is now taking singing lessons and says that every time he sings She Bangs, "there's always something to work on, something to improve". No kidding.
  11. i kept the spotted(panther)grouper they are not so reef safe in the sense that they will gobble anything that fits in their mouth... so no shrimps or smaller fished like damsels and they grow BIG!!! my 2inch panther is now almost a foot long.. kept about 1 year same for ago ago(painted sweetlips)...
  12. not sure about the snail... but the saron shrimp in the background isn't reef safe
  13. YES ! n YES! just got the DVD norman, you're right, should never take anything for granted.. will be covering up the holes and also will install a sieve to prevent fish from getting into the overflow
  14. just to share this incident last night... i came home to find something amiss... i opened the cover to find the tank almost going to overflow.... my sump was almost empty and the return pump was blowing bubbles (lucky i measured the water volume corrctly) i quickly turned off everthing and let the return flow suck the tank water back to the sump. turns out that my usually trusty overflow durso standpipe was stuck. upon dismantling, i saw a turbo snail wedged inside, but thats not all.... my black blenny (lept into overflow night before, to lazy to fish him back to main tank) was firmly stuck in between the turbo. together thay had effectively stopped the return flow if i had come home an hour later, goodnss knows what might have happened... already the water was touching the end caps of my actinic lights... if they had flowed out to the power outlets what are the chances of the snail( who survived by the way) to collaborate the scheme with the blenny?( didn't make it)
