  1. then I know which one liao. The one in farmart.Dont know the name but its on the same lane as one of the marine fish shop right? They have 2 doberman and the dog is always sitting outside the shop?
  2. I highly agree to neokn. Its a life time committment and all dogs need to be trained. It might not be neccessary to train it till its like tv dogs but at least for barking control, pee point, biting problem needs to be taught or else not just causing nuisance to yourself but to your neighbour too. There is a family keeping a MS.This dog basically barks from the first moment the owner steps out and will only keep quiet when the owner returns.Imagine the noise we have to endure?
  3. my experience tells me that female dog yaps alot compared to male.Thats why we called them B I T C H. even my female mini maltese, there are times I really want to wrap a scotchtape round her mouth (just kidding only) but my female old rough hair collie never bark.Might be cos she is so old but she too was super yappy when she was younger
  4. chris, whats the hokkien saying of keeping fish? My mom also keep nagging about the hokkien saying of keeping birds.Even when my kids kept 2 tiny button quil many yrs ago she also says its a kind of bird.
  5. your Q is similar to when someone asked,if the kids of doctor family more smarter? My answer is NO cos many of the president scholarship winner is kids from hawkers. My daughter's teacher always say, there isnt a stupid student, there would only be stupid teacher. You may want to PM me which petshop you went to,if I know them,I can tell you my experience with them.first of all,you must choose the breed cos some petshop are specialist for certain breed.
  6. My family and I myself have kept many breed of dogs before(cocker spaniel, golden retriever, westie, poodle, maltese, corgi, sheltland, collie, schnauzer) if you want small breed and HDB approved breed.I highly recommend westie. Not all westie has that brown fur thing on the mouth that you mentioned.Thats why you have to select carefully. All my 4 westies never one has that problem.I dont have a scanner or else I can send you some pics. Another option would be corgi although HDB not approved. Its a cute little fellow full of energy but yet very good with children. Tame but active is according to training. Its like teaching a kid from young, the manners and what to do and what not to do.Same things go to biting furnitures too. I usually get my dogs from good breeder so you get to see the parent line.
  7. I used to have 2 pairs of westie in a decade.Still missed them alot. The temperament is wonderful, can be lapdog as well as an active fellow that goes along well with almost everything we do....oh boy,me too can go on and on about the white baddie... There is one scene I will never forget.Right after bathing,he was white for just less than 2 mins and then he came back wagging his tail at you just cos he DUGGED your garden and now, he became brown! Some westie is prone to skin problem so should take some times to select carefully
  8. low maintainance means lesser fur.The choices are limit.Only breeds like italian greyhound,chihuahua...how about the terrier group?Moderate grooming breeds such as West highland terrier is an alert little fellow.Active too but not as hyper as JRT.The maintainance is reasonable cos the fur is harsh wired so require lesser combing compare to breed like shitzu..maltese...shetland sheepdog is also not too bad, moderate active dog, moderate grooming too. I keep a pair of taiwanese maltese, the grooming is killing me as require daily brushing to avoid tangle but these 2 fellows never can keep quiet. They 'mopped' the floor all the time Why dont you show your family members the breed of dogs on internet, then shortlist a few and check out their temperament on the internet too?
  9. although I experienced lots racism in Germany.I have to agree with what you say.Yes the people in the city are more racist than those living in the country area. Its ironic as usually people living in the city area are those who exposed to foreigners more. And if I have to mention this, they can easily accepted the African black than the asian.I cant explain this. To me,human are human.Regardless the colour and the gender
  10. my opinion is,JRT is super hyper and barky. The price the peyshop quoted is way too expensive.usually a local breed is about $600,almost 3 times the price the petshop offered. I personally dont think JRT suitable for a small kid and you have to check if your indo maid afraid of dog too.All dogs when they were teething, they will bite furniture but dogs with no proper training will keep biting even they overgrow that teething period, not just furniture but owners too. Unless you and your family has special feelings for JRT,you may want to consider other more gentle breed for you daughter? If JRT is what you are looing for, perhaps you might want to spend more times to check out with other owners with JRT regarding about their experience with theirs.
  11. everyone in my family uses SHARP and it last more than 10 yrs.My current washing machine is Techno and it can take 10kg load with auto setting for water consumption. We bought this so we can even wash the comfortable in it.
  12. Mins I TOLD YOU! SHE WENT FOR TRIP! WELCOME BACK JUSTIANA! WE MISSED YOU!!!
  13. oklah, all people here.Back to the topic...we are drifting too far...
  14. that is what we called MAN! admit or not, there are alot of family where the woman is the one wearing the PANTS!
  15. eerr...all your points to minsmarine only to once proven he is a GENTLEMAN! nothing wrong to be sensitive, nothing wrong to be concerned and when it comes to scolding, not many can be refined. Not sure about whether cyclop is a man or woman but I trust my instinct.
  16. same things goes to our Jurong Birdpark lor... The cafe at flamingo lodge.A chinese family were in front of us asking for a table of 4 in the aircon place. The waitress told her its fully booked even there were vacant seats inside.I thought those were reserved for tour groups...then when we asked them for 5 seats inside, they actually brought us to a table near to the window with nice view. I cant explain the treatment. You tell me.
  17. ALIENS!! I first came across this word when we were filling up some forms in America about a decade ago...I guess every country has their own way to announce non citizens. My personal experience tells me that I have no problems living in the USA.Maybe its different to judge in the position of a tourist or a resident.
  18. who?Me?....let me see...mins is a guy....chris is a guy I believe...cyclop is definitely a guy....weisoon is a guy so yes,the lady is ME!! I just didnt find any hint from her posting related to something so bad.Come to think about it,when all the bombing was in the other thread going...she was reading but altho she didnt comment anything.she always reply with a smile, thanking her supporters so she DEFINITELY knows she has friends here.
  19. eerrr....can I say this is how and why we have the word "WAR" in the dictionary?
  20. I agree. One trip to Germany onboard a plane full of passenger from vietnam. The plane did not park at where it was supposed to be but all passengers were told to Q up for passport inspection. When the officer saw the singapore logo on our bright red passport, they let us pass without even checking.I had that sense of PROUDNESS during that time.
  21. my daughter in the next 10 yrs? cyclop
  22. yeah huh.Mins, think of this way.Its school holiday and in one of her thread, she did mention she is worried she isnt spending enough time with her daughter due to her work... By the way,I dont think her disappearance means something bad happened just cos she did brought up some sensitive topics like committ suicide...I read through all her threads and found she is actually a very joyful person...like how the way she handle her MIL.... I think when she finally back from her trip or ready to come back and seeing all the postings, she would post " how to share touching moment" so relax everyone.
  23. my kids are not pure German cos I m not German mah.My husband is German so made them half german only.Thats why I consider racist cos the kids are at least half, not as if we are totally non german.
  24. well,I lived in Jakarta for 4.5 yrs but have never come across any problem about racism BUT living 2 yrs in Germany showed me what it means. Here is my experience, We were in Germany when our daughter was only 2 yrs old. We were living in our own apartment on the 12th floor.Above was a very racist German family and they would stomp on their floor anytime to show us their dissatisfactory with us.They claimed our daughter runs around and that caused their floor to tremor (mind you, they live a floor above us,even if my child is running, she is definitely not running on our ceiling to cause the tremor according to them)..they insisted the noise came from us even the family next to us held a party...when we happened to cook curry....they complained we are causing smell....they can even stomp and complain for every little bit of things unreasonably. Thats one incident.Next one, when I went supermarket wanting to buy some meat. The butcher asked to show him I have enough money to pay before attending to me.The cashier would deliberately push my items to the side to allow their fellow people to pay first..... Next, when we were enrolling our child into a so called INTERNATIONAL playgroup so I can attend German classes. After a long 2 weeks of waiting,my husband called in to check about the status, were told that when they stated INTERNATIONAL school, they mean pure WHITE kids like American....British....Canadian....etc. At the airport,My daughter and I were told to go Q at the non EU lane even we have German PR status. One most ridiculos case was, our child was playing in the playground in the beer garden.2 German kids came along and they poured a whole bucket of sand over my daughter's head and told her to get lost just cos she is not pure German! I questioned the kids and pulled them to their parents. To my horror, their parent think the same way too. My father in law too is racist. He was so against our marriage as he was very convinced that asian people are out for their nationality and money. When our child was borned. He even forbids me to speak chinese or even English with her cos he only wants her to speak German. And insisted that my husband apply German citizenship for my daughter so he can throw me out of the country without my daughter. Phew...finally a thread for me to vent all my unhappiness regarding about racism. Hope I m not provoking anyone with my posting.
