gunzo, in order to get your skimmer to perform best for you is to fix your skimmer compartment. The water level in your skimmer compartment must always consistent, other than that your skimmer may not perform well. so my suggestion is, to fix your sump, install another divider in to you sump.

yes gouldian, it is a crap skimmer. yes, i dunno own a tunze, and never will!. i am also the one who warn not to buy tunze 9010 and i am also the one who teach how to perform that skimmer to perform better. gouldian and rocdklobster. if you guys know so much about this skimmer, why don't you help gunzo!.

fuel, this is not talking about laziness. this is talking to make this crap skimmers to performance better you are totally right if you were talking about a good skimmer but this crap tunze skimmer needs a special care in order to give the best performance. this tunze skimmers are wet skimmers that because the body is too short. in order to make this skimmer to works best is: 1. the water level of the sump must be consitent. 2. lift up the skimmer a little bit high till its minimum level requirement. 3. not to clean at the inner column but clean the collection cup. the reason is not to clean inner column is let the scum clog at the inner columns that makes the bio foam harder to travel out to collection cup.

that is tottaly wrong fuel for this case. tunze is a wet skimmer, you need to do sumething to compensate its weakness. my suggestion is not to clean the neck of the collection. the dirty neck of the collection cup will cause sediment to pile up then the pile up sediment will help to skimmer to skim better. And of course the water in the collection cup must be clear up. gunzo, if you listened to me last time not to buy tunze skimmer then you will not have this kinda problem. well, i think you have a big pile of money anyway... hehe..

i have been busy lately. i bought a marco AS 350p a month ago, hang one venturi.. i use resun 2600 sp. it is ok. a cheap skimmer that can dial wet and dry skim but the only thing that trouble me a is the skimmer will react to water level changes. And another weakness from this product is will never have thick MUD on the neck of the collection cup. this is just like tunze. gunzo. man your sump is so small and the water level is a bit high. that makes your tunze look like piece of crap. i think you need to adjust your position of your tunzee, lift a little bit up. i also see that your skimmer compartment does not maintain a constant water level. so i think you better check it about your nitrate, hmm.. what can i say...... weipro somehow better??? anyway, i orderi order H&S ap 150, external. will report to you gunzo. by the way, how is the new needlewhell skimmer?

zeypros, know you clarify your topic which is cost and space vs performance. you are talking a good topic. other fellow members just talking craps, that is why i recommend them to read more threads and especially calfo threads. and i mentioned to you zeypros, i am not comparing weipro with tunze. i just want to compare 9010 with 9015 or 9020 and other compatible class skimmers such as aquac remora pro , beckett, and others. so which skimmer do you want to compare with tunze 9010? ask me a question any update from gunzo about 9015??

gunzo, what type of tunze did you buy? any progress?.for your reference , good skimmers will never overkill your tank. what is up with you guys?. man, you are really nuts! what is the point comparing weipro and tunze?. i own a beckett, and i will not compare my beckett with weipro. i feel stupid comparing with weipro. i will compare with other beckett, needwheel, deltec, aquac pro, etc. Do you know weipro can perform better when modified?? who has ever modified weipro?

If you are talking these tangs, then there is no way to enhance their color back to normal. Just for your information, these two fish can do well in captivity but their color is difficult to maintain.

bro eudacious. i totally not agreed with you. how do you compare weipro and tunze? even though you said tunze is 10 times better than weipro, but, do you know weipro is 10 times cheaper than tunze? please be realistic. I personnally rate tunze is mediocre. 9015 and 9020 are also wet skimmerl. 9010 is out of the league. .......

DEFINITELY yes! i use beckett, pull a lot of dark tea when i set it wet. 4- 6 days more than 500 ml. Then if i set it dry, it will be slower to fill up the cup, no dark tea in the collection cup but only mucha mud !

To your question, be honest, i also love wet skim sometimes. who don't? crystal clear water in your tank!. And it is even clearer if we o3 our tank! But right now i have not use o3 yet. anyway, i usually run wet skim for 7- 14 days in a month and the rest i run dry skim. so that's how i maintain my tank. Euda already mention the differences of wet skim does and dry skim does. Summary: wet skim pulls many thing and little water and dry skim pulls certain thing and a little bit of water. the little water pulled from the wet skim might contains calcium, trace elements, etc. well, this is not a big issue, we can add additives in replaced. And from dry skim is less additives elements wasted. anyway, there is nuthin wrong by being wet skim and dry skim,just like i mention before, i do BOTH. i hope you all agree with me. I just like a skimmer that can perform wet and dry system, it is so much fun...............................

i just checked reefcentral on tunzee 9015 and 9020 and the result is good skimming( for the users). 9015 and 9020 can produce 400 ml and 500 ml of tea within 4-5 days. tunze is a kind of wet skimmer.

ayoo, i earned nuthin from this thread lah. After i read this tread for the first time; i would like to get Tunze 9010 my smaller Tank and omit my option for aqua c remore pro. But after i do more research on the net, then i come out 9010 will never skim dry no matter how you adjust or your tank condition.That because the collection cup is smaller. And 9015 is the ideal collection cup size to let more air intake in the process so that skimming become less wet or dryer. American and European do like good skimmer!, they will throw their money on deltec, MRC, precision, aquac pro and european will throw on buble king, h&s. All of these skimmers perform both "WET and DRY". skim. Only "CHEAP" skimmer perform wet skim only. You such a good lier, you only use 9010 for three weeks and your nitrate drop to 2-5 ppm from 25ppm. From your picture, from the way you set the tank i guarantee Your nitrate will be the lowest at 12.5 ppm ciaoo dude
