  1. This one should be normal zoos. You bought it at around $5 right?
  2. If you let them settle down before the shrimps are actually harrassed by other shrimps, then it should be ok. But most of the time, shrimps don't get killed by other shrimps all of a sudden (not like fishes), normally they have the ability to defend themselves.
  3. If you intend to get salt water ghost shrimps, then you may have a hard time searching for it. Very few LFS have it. But they are better compared to freshwater ones. Because they can survive throughout until they are eaten, thus this will not cause any uneaten food/dead shrimps to cause NH3 build up.
  4. Ghost shrimps you mean fresh water one right? Most LFS also have. They usually pack they up already, one pack around $1 - $2.
  5. Just add it away from the return pump, because if salt were to suck up and release into the main tank and landed on corals, corals may die.
  6. I think purple up contains calcium instead of magnesium. Thats why it is an coralline algaes accelerator.
  7. Yes I agree, when the spiruzina powder touches the water, the paste like effect will be disperse and all powder will be like micro plankton floating/flowing all around the water.
  8. This is the peppermint angelfish (Paracentropyge Boylei). It is not possible to get this fish, they are extremely extremely rare and expensive. Read from a book last time that someone bought it at US$14,000.
  9. To make a poll fair, just indicate 2 choices "cheap" or "expensive", in this way, I don't think anyone would say that its unfair. To add on to something about LFS, I don't think prices is much for us to discuss as this is all and solely up to the owner himself. If the owner wants to sell it at high price, then just let it be, to buy or not to buy is up to the customer own wish, no one is forcing. In terms of the owners is targeting on beginners, I don't think he have the ability to force a beginner to buy, if one were to buy from his shop without checking out prices from other shops or farms, then it's his own loss. Just take for example if I were to buy a computer, for example I've got no knowledge at computer at all, I'll still surf the net, or if I have no internet, I'll go to areas that sell computers to compare prices before buying. Singapore is not that big, I'm sure most people who are interested in marine will at least know of a few LFS. Even if not a lot, at least 2 right? But one thing I'm fully agree with bros/sis is that I really can't tolerate LFS owners that sell to people/beginners lots of fishes, telling them that they can survive, or probably use a damsel for cycing, all these are cruels. I hate it. I'm very sad to see many common clowns mati in newbie hands. They are suppose to be unique and cute fishes. But due to low pricing.....Haiz
  10. Actually 32 DegreeC is really high for marine livestock. I am not sure if BB can survive in this temp. But since you said that your chiller is arriving, then it should not be a problem. But since you have no LS currently, there is no worries. Just test for NH3, NO2 and NO3, if the cycling process still continue, then no problem at all.
  11. Actually many of us peform fresh water dip when they saw iches on fishes, but unless you are experience, you may cause harm to the fishes (stress) instead of help. If your fish is eating happily, there will be a very high chance that it will fight off all iches in couple of days. But if you did not add any fishes and did not perform water changes using NSW, having your fishes contact iches are very rare. Btw try to control, don't keep adding fishes.
  12. You do not have to switch it off. If the real temp is 26.6 DegreeC, then just let it be 26.6 DegreeC, it won't do any harm. Not to worry too much, because the temp won't further decrease. My thermometer also shown 26++ while my chiller is 27 DegreeC. Btw can help me to see whether how long your chiller is resting? I really need to do this survey as my chiller seems to work rather frequent. Bro ming69, what powerhead are you using for pumping water into your chiller? I'm wondering if mine is too low.
  13. Any 1 knows where can I buy mangrove? Seems interesting plant, use to have one (given by someone else) but gave it to someone else last year. So where can I get one?
  14. I got the powder as well, I mix with food, but don't know if effective or not. Btw how much water do you mix with? I mix with half a maggie mee cup, don't know if too much. You did'nt pour the whole thing including the dark green water into your tank right? I use those filter thingy to just take the mysis and feed the fishes. But I'm wondering if i don't add any water, just let the mysis melt, then put some powder on the melted mysis, will this be better? Like cooking, haha.
  15. Haha, kk, will try it out, I'm believing it now.
  16. It's still better to seperate into 2 different source, it might be a hazard. As most of the aquarium power point are 24/7, fire can occurs easily if overheated. For my case, I got 3 source, one source to 6 socket, one source to 4 socket, and last one to my light without extention (due to the timer too big, so no choice).
  17. One thing I would like to hear bros/sis oppinion of your sump, you know the compartment part right, there must be certain number of dividers to divide the compartment, and the dividers are from tall to low, would like to know whether do you just put the amount of water at the peak of the dividers or you overshot them? Overshot meaning you will not see the water fall effect, the divider is at the bottom, and the water surface cover up most of the dividers. Will it affect the main purpose/efficiency of the sump if we overshot?
  18. Hi bros/sis, may I know how long does your chiller rest between operating period? Meaning how long does your chiller rest before it's back to work again?
  19. But sis, looking at the package, isn't this type of gel in liguid form? Like those elephant superglue type. If I were to squeeze some onto the LR which is in the tank, will it spread to the whole tank? Afraid fishes come and eat.
  20. I think he meant by the average sea temp. Shallow areas will be affected much by the hot sun, but for deep sea, the temp is not much affected. Markboy, your water parameter seems very much ok. Your Nit you mean NO3 and not NO2 right? Check out your NO3 if what you tested is NO2. Best is to have both 0. PO4 should be as close to 0 as possible. Introduce some seaweeds to your sump/refugium. It helps. Try to increase your KH a bit, it is ok now, but very close to the minimum line.
  21. Bro, your 2ft PL light is with the hood or you mean just the light tube? If it's with the hood, I'm getting it for my sump.
  22. It's a good article, but 1 thing I don't really understand. They did mention about don't put any spnge/wool etc in the filtration, but how are we going to filter out dirts from the tank if without them? I know that it can lead to NO3 build up, but that is the case where people don't even bother to wash them. Hmm, the thing is that they did'nt mention what to use to remove dirts...
  23. Wow fast reply sis. Btw the glue gel is like those hair gel like that one ah? I mean the texture. Or it's like Epoxy like that hard hard one? Then do I have to take out the rock or not? So afraid the fish eat the gel.
  24. Then how about the Naso? You bought the fox face and the Naso on the same day right? I'm sure your purple tang will feed on the bamboos, don't worry. Regarding the food, I did not use it before, therefore I cannot give you any comments, any bros can help?
  25. Yes, I agree, the resins are really light that they will flow out of the FR. After I bought a control valve, everything was ok, the resins dancing up and down in the FR. Prior to start using the resins in the FR, get a control valve for your FR, it works like miracle. If not, get a FR with a control valve attached, henry have it, it's even better.
