  1. Oh, it's a tiny tank, 18x18x30 cm. Just rocks and polyps so far. At this point in time there's a diatom bloom. I try to keep the organics in check with weekly water changes.
  2. I thought of using Seachem's Phosguard alone. I saw Seagel which appears to be phosguard and carbon, and was thinking I can get a lot of carbon for a lot less, so I might as well get a whole bottle of phosguard rather than half phosguard and half expensive carbon. After doing some reading, it seems like phosguard contains aluminium oxide which has been reported to affect coral opening. Anyone has these issues? In addition, what else should I keep in the filter?
  3. What's your asking price? I'm interested.
  4. Yah I thought those at hardware shops are just blue tubes.. not actinic.
  5. Yah, really beautiful but cannot frag it. Hahah.
  6. Sorry, I'm not looking for this coral but the photo caught my interest. What's the coral in the lower right of the photo?
  7. To focus, I'll name some I'm really interested in. Sea fan Goniopora sp. Any SPS Yuma/rhodactis Doesn't matter if the frag (not the polyp) is as small as 1 or 2 cm, as long as there's life on it.
  8. Looking for those tiny 9-11w PL tube types. Do they exist here? So far the smallest I can find is a 24w actinic.
  9. Any convenient way to go by bus? I'm not driving. And is Pasir Ris farmway near the east coast beach? Thinking of dropping by there later to pick up some beach sand.
  10. Are there any chillers that can simultaneously cool 2 or more tanks, or are they all designed for single-tank use?
  11. I'm looking for tiny frags of anything, around the size of a 10-50 cent coin. Doesn't matter if if has only 1 or 2 polyps on each, but more would be better. I'm building up a new tank that's 18x18 cm square, so those chunks sold in shops are much too big. Do let me know what you have and your asking prices.
  12. I'm plannign to go to pasir ris this friday. Can anyone tell me where is this ah beng's shop, and what other shops in pasir ris I should visit for coral livestock?
  13. I was quite interested in the way he grew copepods. http://joshday.com/mandaringoby.htm
  14. Ok, need help here boys. I went to SLT and they had 2 kinds of blue LEDs - 4.5v and 6v. I got 9 4.5v types, and 3 120 ohm resistors. Can I wire these according to the diagram given on page 1, and connect it to a 9v PSU? Or do I need a 6v PSU for it now?
  15. Would you recommend using one of those anti phosphate sponges in a small tank like this?
  16. That's the one.. some of those I've seen are white with brown spots. I'm always worried about crabs.. last time I had a small hermit crab that attacked a lionfish when it was sleeping.
  17. In a small tank like this, what would be the best way to feed the corals? The problem is that there is no protein skimming and no filtration. It relies on weekly water changes. Can we buy live plankton anywhere? I get the idea that this won't foul the tank rapidly since it's still alive.
  18. Are there any brands of mains power timers that are recommended? I need a 3-pin timer that has allowance for 3 plugs. Do timers that allow multiple timings, 1 for each plug, exist?
  19. I want to keep one of these tiny guys... but will they eat other inverts?
  20. Picture of the tank as of now.. it's 2 weeks old. Lots of growth of strange things I never noticed before. Zoos from the live rock have started to open up. This algae in the lower center has started growing on the more well-lit areas. Is it chaetomorpha? These white sea-fan like things have appeared over a lot of shady spots over the past 2 days. What are they?
  21. Anybody interested to go? Planning to collect beach fleas for my tank.
