  10. You are using 4 x 24w? The photoperiod? In general, i would start off by placing the yuma on the sand bed first (If possible). Shifting will only be done if necessary. If its happy at the first place, why shift it! It doesn't really need too much light. In fact too much light will cause stress and hence small wrinkled 'pimples'.. Like what i mentioned earlier, look out for signs of 'complains'. Every yuma is different. But they all exhibit the same kind of signs to tell you whether they are happy or not. No yuma melts overnight. Most likely they are already been stress for a period of time before they gives up. Even if they starts to melt, there is still SOME chance of them recovering totally. I will try to describe a few kinds of melting. 1. Melting starting from the foot of the yuma. Some kind of whitish slime will be observed. Removed the slime and chances of recovery is high. Look out for factors that are stressing the Yuma. 2. Melting starting from the mouth. Some kind of BROWNISH vomit by the yuma. Chances are the yuma is just 'cleaning' itself or is a little stress (Maybe by the sudden switching on of light). No need to worry too much. BUT IF the vomit is WHITE. Chances of recovering is slim. It will depend on the will power of the Yuma..Hee... 3. Melting from the within. Sometimes the rock under the yuma breaks into 2, dividing the yuma at the foot. The melting starts from under and you never notice it. It will then spread to the centre and by the time you notice anything, its probably too late to do anything. So avoid Yumas with broken rocks. The condition will most likely gets worse when the LFS packed it.. imagine the yuma sandwich or pulling apart by the rocks. The above is based solely from my own experience and observation. I too bought many of the beauties and melt so many of them . I now own about 30 different yumas.. and i hope the above information will help reefers in having more success in keeping this beauties. Let me know if any of you guys spots any nice specimen k... hor..
  11. I'm using 8 x 54w for my tank. No special technique in letting Yumas have big bubbles, they will have it so long they are happy in your tank. You can use the commercial epoxy. (i tried some brands) But i dun encourage them because i think its more expensive compared to the ones meant for aqua uses. I'm dun think there's much issue abt the additives in the commercial epoxy. I prefer superglue or gel. They are neater and easier to use. Some advices to increase the chances of success with Yumas; Try not to let the yuma incline from any angle. They have higher chances of flying off in the tank.eg glueing it in such a way that they are facing you. Avoid the BIG Bubble kind of yuma. They have very high chance of melting. Clear away the slimy stuffs if you see any. It will help to increase the yuma chance of surviving. DUN TRY to put the newly bought Yuma at the top of your 250W! *****This is the most important point to note... OBSERVE the yuma. They will tell you that they are not doing well. Act fast. Most ppl just leave it there and pray that it will recover. Just my opinion.
  12. Hi AngMoki..a Welcome to the YUMA freako family! I have been trying to collect them after I saw one orange yuma when i just started the hobby. Some experience to share: Every Yuma is different.
