  1. hmm.. y does everyone wanna know how much my tank costs?
  2. 3. update on Tank! actually, i've missed 2 weeks of it. anyway, i put in sand, LR etc etc. heres the (almost) final product. i gotta confess tho. i gave in n bought two red scooter blennies from Reborn yesterday. and i didnt even have a GF for an excuse (GF tell me to buy becoz they look so cute!) any idea how im going to feed them? my tank's hardly established, n i dont see any pods in my sump or main tank yet. sigh.. also, ive bought 2 forked tail blennies , thinking they were midas. sigh... if i get bitten and die i probably deserve it. jon.
  4. heheh cannot compare with IBM lah. i think they use GOLD for their processors n NICs.
  5. ya got any other pc on your network? check the ip. in this case yours is probably set to static. 1. u can change the ip on any one pc to resolve the conflict, 2. just switch to DHCP. *recommended* jon.
  6. well, i dun see pods for sale. i just meant the really small hermits n snails. the last time i saw one they were selling for 2 digit prices. (10+ - 20+) EACH. jon.
  7. this thread got pretty lively. anyway, im going with a sandbed. not really deep, but i see my worms burrowing in after getting flushed out when i poured the old sand in. regarding sandbed fauna/cleanup crew, u guys know where to get them cheap? i find that they come at cutthroat prices despite their size. jon.
  8. Got my new tank today~ got it from Bio Ocean. looks pretty gd overall. since i nv had a sump tank as well im quite excited about it. heres some pics i took today. will only be filling it up tomorrow coz the silicon isnt completely cured yet. jon.
  9. tank's coming tomrrow. i think i'll be going with a DSB. cant really go wrong with that.
  10. hi all, Since my new tank is soming next week, i was debating whether to go for DSB again or BB this time round. anyone can gimme a few pointers? i'll have a 2/1/2 feet sump this time round tho. so got more space to play with. with still be using my weipro skimmer til next month b4 i upgrade a bit. lightings will be 3X39W T5s and 2X25W FLs. and a single Seio pump in the tank. i think thats about it for my equipment. jon.
  11. sigh.. called up justin a while back. probably will go for the 10mm with bracing all round. n a wooden stand. sounds like "kaypoh". kapoh? there goes my spending money for this month. argh. feed me pls.
  12. but hor, 10mm u'll start to see quite a bit of distortion already. is this the absolute minimum for a 3 feet tank?
  13. sigh, after i get over paying for a new tank with my paycheck, im quite tempted to do something different. like an anemone tank. or fowlr with butterflies or someother fish i couldn't keep in the reef tank.
  14. im very sure that its not an accident. anyway, the bottom was bulging a bit this morning when i checked. i think the silicon gave way as i didnt see any crack when i moved the sand away. wats a kotobuki tank? how thick is it?
  15. very sian loh. that LFS is trusted by most fishkeepers in sg somemore. lol sigh... actually u add vinegar in the water to mop. will clear up the stickiness quite fast.
  16. as above. my 3 feet tank sprung a leak this morning. flooded half the living room thru the night. i think the glass bottom couldnt take the weight n pressure of my LR n sand n all that water. transferred all corals to a holding tank with a powerhead and a airpump, and all LR to pails and all LS to the coral holding tank. then wiped the floor clean. i think the vinegar helps to remove the stickiness. so, pls do not use 5 plan tanks. 2 feet ones are ok tho. 3 feet is a no-no. sadly, extra expenses this month. a little tempted to stop altogether. any one knows how much a custom made 3 feet tank is? i was thinking 8mm with bracing all around, and wooden stand. (not cabinet) now i worry about my corals (altho soft corals only) n whether my YT will get ick now that its stressed. wat im really pissed about is that the LFS told me the tank can be used for marine. apparently they didnt know better. i had my doubts initially, but becoz they were so established as a LFS i took their work for it. so, everyone (esp newbies) pls do ya homework b4 starting a marine tank. jon.
  17. i kiasu mah. lol anyway, the tank looks better with the FL on. thanks anyway~
  18. hi all, currently running 3x39W of T5s. 2 20k oceanpro from aquaz and one artinic. also running 2x25W FL. 1 Artinic and 1 10k. have the urge to buy change the FL setup to another 3X39W T5 set. qn is, is it overkill for my soft coral tank? (think Zoos n Mushies) jon.
  19. get a grip. nobody's looking down on ladies. its just a funny poem someone decided to share.
  20. it happens. they're homicidial maniacs. mine usually attack snails when they're overturned or on the sand bed where its easy for it to overturn the snail. the bugger even killed the other 2 electirc blues hermits i had. but, i suppose it got whacked by my fat hawkfish in the end. =p
  21. actually, some brands recommend u to change every 2 weeks, depending on how "dirty" your tank is.
  22. i cant really rem tho. i just asked the guy at Petmart to suggest one for me. been using that ever since. hmm... how much are those pumps u using? this mth damn broke.
  23. as above. can anyone recommend a pump that not too expensive? my dolphin pump just doesnt do very well. think flowrate is a little low. perhaps they were over-optimistic in stating the flowrate.
