  1. I am using the Resun 1000. Used to t-off from my return pump. Now really no space in sump. Maybe should try out the Rowa in skimmer idea?
  2. Yeap. With the Rowa in the skimmer, your water will have less contact with the micro bubbles too, hence being skimmed less effectively. But do let me know if this is feasible, cos I would very much like to have 2-in-1 too.
  3. For testing purpose, so didn't want to get new ones. Kindly let me know if you have 1 to offer. Please include the price, age of item and place of collection.
  4. Walao, lidat must think hard how to continue using my FR liao. I was originally thinking of decommissioning the FR due to lack of space in sump.
  5. Then your media end up reacting with all the micro bubbles. That will compromise performance both the media and skimmer. Think it's better off putting the media directly in the sump.
  6. But water in the sump is also "forced" to flow from 1 compartment to another, although I do agree that the flow is probably more wide spread. That is why I posted my earlier question: "How much more effective is the use of FR compared to simply placing the media in a "flowable" location?"
  7. I know what you mean. Actually I am more concerned of the size of my return pipe, cos I feel that the flow is very weak compared to my previous setup, although the pump is still the same. I think I might have made a mistake in upping the size of the pipe.
  8. Has anyone "measured" how much more effective or efficient is using of FR compared to placing the media directly in the sump? I mean, we need additional pump to run the FR, so need more space, more heat built up etc. Does the use of FR really outweigh it's disadvantages?
  9. Will there be any impact if I use a reducer from 1" to 3/4" for a return pipe? Would that be considered as 1" or 3/4" return? How do I choose a suitable pump for such pipings?
  10. Thanks for pointing out. Essentially, 1 inch = 25.4mm (or 25mm according to "pipe industry" ). So basically, 1/2 inch would be 12.5mm, 3/4 inch is 20mm and so on.
  11. Just wondering what size of pipes do you guys (and gals) use for return pipes, and share your knowledge of the consequences of using pipes that are too small or too big. for sharing.
  12. Are you running a sump with return pipe into the main tank? If you are, you may want to adjust the returning water such that it covers the top and middle section of your tank. Then you can place the seios near the base to cover water flow at the lower area.
  13. Hi Bluewind Nice setup. How's your chiller performing for a 3ft? Is it undersized? U mentioned that there is only 1 return pipe from the sump to the main tank, so does the chiller's outlet return to the sump or the main tank? Thanks for sharing.
  14. Haha, will do that when I change my tank. Hope that really clears my problem.
  15. Bro, thanks for your advice. Actually I am in the midst of migrating my LS to a new tank, so am only thinking of changing PO4 remover while at the new tank. Same with the water change. So far I have not had any luck with fishes or inverts feeding on hair algae. Not my algae, not my crabs. Anyone got a crab or blenny I can "borrow" to clear my algae? "Rent" also can.
  16. Haha, I have been trying to do that, but how do we ensure that we do not injure the star polyps while plucking the algae? And if we do, can we remedy it?
  17. I got a plague in my tank some time back, and thought my polyps died. But they didn't. However, they did not open for quite a while, and during this time hair algae started to grow on them. What can I do to improve the polyps growth?
  18. Speaking of live vs dead rocks, does anyone know how long live rocks can stay out of water before they "die"? I mean, when we 1st set up our tanks, aren't the live rocks delivered or transported w/o water? So, if they do "die", can these rocks still be considered live rocks?
  19. I assume your tank is of 3 viewable sides right? So what about the remaining side? Do you paste any background on it?
