  1. Due to a major makeover of my tank. I have the following to give away: 2x 25 litre buckets of live rock. From very large to small pieces. 1 large bucket/drum 12.2US gallons of live sand. Grade will be hard t determine as it is all mixed over the years. generally 'fine' to very 'fine'. Don't ask me about weight. I'll just tell you it's heavy. Will not deliver but will help you bring it downstairs Collection in TPY. Sorry no livestock. I am still keeping my tank and livestock. [never know Singaporeans gotta put this disclaimer] Everything will be going to my local LFS if no one confirms anything by tomorrow. Sorry for the short notice, but i didn't know i had THAT much extra in my tank. Pls call me at 82223181. Pls don't use forum PM or sms, i might miss it. Very busy with the tank today. Messed my whole house up in my little adventure.
  2. How long have you had them? The majority will not survive being kept in captivity. Our tanks are generally too parasite free. Although some will learn to eat what we feed, most will not.
  3. Squirt some liquid coral food in the flow???
  4. So do just give a squirt of the food around the clam mantle ?? my concern is just that in my tank near the surface, the water movement/flow is quite high. So the mo I try to squirt any thing it just gets blasted away. Just wish to check out the faqs before committing to one. Thanks.
  5. I am not sure what your sump set up is. How about having your chiller intake from the last compartment and then return directly to the tank. That will increase the flow thru the tank. and save you buying a new 2500ltr/hr. You will then have 1000ltr return from chiller and a 2000ltr/h return pump both running.
  6. Phuket has PLENTY of dive operators there. The prices are quite competitive there and prices are normally listed so not likely to kena chop like carrot. So yah, u can just walk in there. They have this jetty place like Mersing where all the operators gather. Like in Sg, some of the operators group together to save costs. So sometimes you find that it doesn't matter so much which particular op you book with. you still end up on the same mini bus and go on the same boat. hahaha Well, there are several dive sites near phuket itself. There are various pho this and pho that islands. Shark Point is a fav for ppl who wanna see sharks. Last time I went there, all the other pairs of divers got to see shark except me Next trip to phuket try again bah.
  7. Question: Does anyone target feed their clams? Never had one, but very tempted.
  8. Hur hur.... depends on which theory you subscribe to. Some put zero in main tank with DSB in sump. Others believe the more the merrier. This is probably one of those questions which has 'no best answer'.
  9. To be very honest I ain't tested for phosphates. Other parametres are as per normal. My water changes are pretty regular and there hasn't really been much changes in my tank for quite a long time. This sudden bloom I really suspect due to 1 light being down, thus suddenly the conditions became favourable to this algae. Now that the light has been fixed, the situation doesn't seem to be getting worse. But then, it ain't getting any better either. I don't think the algae will just die off and I hope not because that would likely send my nitrate lvl thru the roof too. I got too sick of it and took a few pieces of plain rocks out to brush them. But I can't do the same to those with stuff growing on them. Maybe I go find one giant lawnmower blenny. I think my current one too good life and don't do his job anymore GRRRRR.
  10. it could be that 2000ltr/h is too fast for the chiller to handle. Thus the water going thru the chiller doesn't cool down enough. but your initial design looks fine. Whilst the 2nd design is feasible, I don't like to have too many variable water flows. Basically cos I am a bit lazy and like everything to go in 1 direction only. Another reason I don't like design 2, that it is preferable to have the chiller intake after the filtration media. Afterall you don't want gunk going thru the chiller. Just my 2cents.
  11. man! that is an evil looking crab

Dun understand the problem. So is it the switch that is faulty or the bulb??
  14. When the buying stops, so can the killing.
  15. Of my 2 mH, 1 decided to die on me I have been too "50% busy 50% lazy" to do anything about it other than shifting most the stuff to one side of the tank. However, in 3 weeks most the exposed bits of rock are now covered in this green mossy algae growth. It is even on the underside of my bubble (although the bubble itself still looks it's normal self). The trunk of my hammers, .... basically everywhere ok I've fixed the lighting. but still having a headache as to how to get rid of the algae. Tried 'plucking' some of it off but to limited success. Atm, the only thing I can think of is to physically remove the rocks and then scrubbing them individually. But I really wanna avoid that if possible. My other idea is to hire an entire school of algae blennies into the tank. My existing one doesn't look too interested in this particular bloom. sorry at work now, so no pics. Any old birds out there got any good idea?
  16. Just to share, I got a solo percula that 'visits' my bubble every now and then. Doesn't seem to do much but hovers around the edges. Bubble doesn't seem to mind too much. But yeah, get an anemonie if possible.
  17. wah this question CHEEM man. I guess it all depends on sand density and moisture content in the sand as well. Erm any of u maths wiz like to answer this?
  18. Yah lor so much useless stuff, if I enlarge somemore cannot wear shorts liao. minimum must burmuders. ROTFL. -sry off topic.

  20. FUJITSU PC ASIA PACIFIC PTE LTD Tel: +65 6272-0088 (Helpdesk Hotline) E-mail:support@asiapac.com.sg U should be able to simply order a new keyboard layout from them.
  21. Most hardware shops in those industrial estates in Singapore can order 3m products for you. I am not sure of the size of the that is being supplied. An alternative is to use epoxy putty. Not the gluey type. Use the putty type which u can mould and press around the leak. Good thing is it is cheap and has a long shelf life. Non toxic once cured.
  22. I am speechless. Sad to hear about your loss. I am sure you and yr tank will both recover and be looking good again (well the looking good part is yr tank lah. as 4 u... dunno KEKEKEK ).

    MH ballast

Wonder if any DIY experts out there can help me. one of MH lights died. IT burned one of the connections to the bulb. That I can find a way to fix myself (I think). I suspect the ballast has had it's day. I am hoping to take this opportunity to upgrade to a higher wattage. Would like to ask if any one here if they have done so and if there are any issues I should look out for? Will I need to change the wiring to handle the higher power? I am planning to use the same housing will that be an issue? Also . . . more importantly how about brands and where to get? anyone got any ideas or tips? Thanks in advance.
