I also have hard coral in my tank with a single fan keeping the temp 28 and below... So far they're still okie. But i think my light not strong enuff... I have tried to feed my hammer but it's not easy since the mouth not very easy to loacte something...and they tried to closed up whenever they sense my hand going near them...

Mushroom was my first coral...But i have bad experience with it But my button did rather okie... now i have mushies again and it's doing fine. Maybe try leather and button first...

With regards to the macro algae method, i once have green gapes algae in my tank. It was doing very well intially. I added it and realised it helped in controlling my phosphate level. i guess it also takes in nitrate. But after 2 weeks or so... it started detoriating and die off... Is it because there isn't enuff nutrient(nitrate and phosphate etc) for the algae tat causes it die to die off? Quite puzzled over this ... If it really effective against nitrate, i wouldn't mind trying the method suggested here...

Hi, The temp preferably must not exceed 29 degree. U can purchase a cooling fan to lower it to between 25-27 degree esp when ur lights are on, the temp tends to go higher. What's the wattage of ur PL lighting? 2 PL of 55w 10,000K is alrite for mushroom and soft corals. But no not forget about the power heads for water circulation...it's very impt too

Hi In that case, is the blue-cheek goby a jumper too? I have seen it clean the sand by expelling thru it's side and it's a rather interesting fish... Beside that, are they safe to introduce to a tank with DSB, will they disturb the maturation of the bed? Esp with the nitrate-reducing beneficial bacteria? And side-track a bit, are doc fish a suitable in a tank with few number of fishes? And do they accept fish food or do they survive thru cleaning other fishes and consuming the stuffs they found on them?

Hi Does anyone know of a good way to get shrimps out instead of hiding? I have 1 camel shrimp but it is always hiding...just like i've got no shrimp @ all. I will buy another one to keep it company soon...

The tot of cutting off starfish leg to feed the shrimps...simply puts me off.

Hi guys, I just got myself a hammer coral...but shuai shuai it kena brown jelly disease. i have to siphon one part of the coral away... left 3 other branches. Now they are doing fine in my 2 PL with 1 actnic lighting. I will like to know how to keep them healthy and are they any minerals i have to add? Thanks...

my camel shrimp doing fine in my tank...but very shy.

I already siphon the portion away. It came off quite easily. Now got a botak branch. Will anything grow back?

How do i separate them? using a ... And about using a plier to break off the branch, wouldn't it be very stressful for the other branches.. IF it's the jelly diesase, are there any cure

Guys, I just acquired a hammer coral 2 days ago. It has 4 main "branches". 3 of the 4 branches are doing alrite...but the last one isn't. The hammerhead refuses to come out and worst still, it is constanly producing slimy stuffs. When i first introduce the coral, the nitrate level was at 5mg/l with zero ammonia and nitrite. Temp was ard 27 degree. For the last two days, it remaiined like that. I tot it might be the circulation, so i increased it a bit more over it. But no changes. Then i just measured the nitrate level and it rose to 15mg/l but ammonia remains at 0mg/l. Any advise on wat i shd do? Anyway, i also have a frogspawn inside which is doing well. Thanksss.... benson

I currently have a 3 month old DSB in my tank. I believe it is not matured yet and the bacterial responsible for converting nitrate to free gases have not fully colonized yet. I measure my nitrate level occasionally and realised that it's ard 15-20 ppm range. I was thinking of keeping it lower since i just had a hard coral added to my tank. I was wondering if these nitrate absorbing stuffs could help in the short term. But will tat hinder the colonization of my bacterials? Thanks.

Hello guys, Do u guys use any of the nitrate reducing reageant in form of liquid or adsorbing medium? Are they safe to use and effective? And how does a denitrating column works and do we fit it on our tank like a protein skimmer?
